About Me

CURRENTLY: On travel for work in NYC, looking to hang with other people before I leave on Saturday, Aug 24!

I'm someone who sees the glass as half full, and I try to fill it. Just graduated from a small liberal arts college in Indiana, USA. I'm an experienced surfer, I've stayed with quite a few hosts throughout Europe. I'm less experienced in hosting but look forward to doing so when I'm able! Outside of that meeting members of the community is always fun.

Throughout the year I'm usually busy: I remain involved with my community on the weekends, and then work at a tech company throughout the week.

In college I studied politics, business, and economics.
During the summers I was at the University of Michigan, where I conducted forestry and climate change research with some awesome people. I also worked in nonprofit fundraising for a summer, too. I now work at a tech company and am just beginning my career. My goal is to pursue a career that utilizes my strengths, provides opportunities to improve my weaknesses, and helps maximize my individual impact to better the world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I run under the philosophy that you gain what you give. I go all in, and love trying new things. I'm trying to get the most out of my traveling experience, not just by seeing the sights and walking the miles, but by making lifelong friends. It's not about what you do, but about who is there with you along the way.

Interests

LIVE MUSIC ENTHUSIAST! In my free time, I love camping (in my hammock or tent), hiking, and other forms of outdoor recreation. I recently picked up Dungeons and Dragons, and also like checking out local businesses (AKA food) and beers.

While traveling I check out nearby parks (big and small!), museums and art galleries, walking and hiking paths, and whatever points of interest people recommend.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Love learning about new artists. Anything from reggae to rap, metal to Mozart, folk to electronic. I love the concert vibe, so if your friend is in a band let me know and I'll show out.

Books: Can't say I read as much as I should, but fantasy books are great. LOTR, ASOIAF, and space operas are some of the series I've binged. Can't say I've seen all their on-TV counterparts though...

Movies: Documentary junkie. Planet Earth and the Life series are masterpieces. Movie wise I like most anything dramatic, especially Tarantino. Star Wars and superheroes are pretty great, too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Snorkeled with sea turtles.

Teach, Learn, Share

I worked for the Career Services office at my school, and would love to show you how you might be able to improve your resume, cover letter, or LinkedIn profile. I'm a trained deliberation facilitator, and also know a fair amount about personal finance if that can be of any service to you. I'd like to learn more about your local customs and flares!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll do yer dishes. If you play Dungeons & Dragons (or are interested in learning) I can DM for you (and your friends) or teach you how to play. I can help you with your resume, cover letter, or LinkedIn profile to help improve your employment prospects. I can help garden, harvest, etc. I can do prep work for cooking (though I'm not a great cook). I can do community service at your favorite organization! Excel, graphic design, and photography are other strong suits. Just ask!
