Overview
About Me
Born and brewed in Germany, steeped in British banter (Scotland, mainly), and seasoned with a pinch of New Zealand, South Africa, the Netherlands and a few other places 🌍
I'd describe myself as open and laid back, and the kind of person who thinks life’s too short to just look at stuff — I want to climb it, swim in it, hike over it, and maybe fall off it once or twice...
Couchsurfing is my thing because it’s real. Hotels? Too shiny. Fancy restaurants? Overrated. I’d much rather be cooking on a gas stove in a tent up a mountain or learning to cook your family recipe in your kitchen while sharing stories.
If there’s something new to try, a weird dish to eat, or a questionable route to take — I’m in.
Basically, if it gets me outside and moving — hiking, cycling, kayaking, climbing, skinny-dipping, getting lost in the best way — I’m in my element. Nature and wildlife are my happy places — give me remote trails, wide open skies, and no phone signal, and I’m in heaven.
I’m always up for meeting new people, swapping stories, and saying yes to the next adventure — whether it’s a spontaneous hike, a swim in the sea or a remote loch, or just a late-night chat over tea (or whisky, your call).
If you'd like to join me on a little adventure, feel free to drop me a message! 🌳
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
If you’re heading up to Aberdeenshire, I’d love to welcome you! I used to work as a hiking guide, so if you’re into scenic walks, hidden trails, or spotting wildlife in its natural habitat — I may know a few good spots 😊
Whether you're looking for a place to crash, keen on joining a local event, or up for a spontaneous day trip or hike — I’m always happy to connect with fellow Couchsurfers, wherever and however we cross paths.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I love travelling but even more than ticking places off a map, I love living abroad, diving into new cultures, and getting to know the people who make a place what it really is. That’s where Couchsurfing has been a total game-changer.
I had my first CS experience back in October 2009. A friend introduced me to it on a spontaneous holiday and it was probably one of my most memorable experiences!
Since then, I’ve couchsurfed across the world, met amazing people from all walks of life, and collected stories that no hostel could’ve ever given me. Every host and surfer I’ve crossed paths with has added something special — and I’m still in touch with many of them years later.
Thanks to CS, I’ve done things I never would've found in a guidebook. It's turned “travelling” into “living,” even if just for a few days at a time. My favourite memories aren’t of famous landmarks — they’re of the people I’ve met, the homes I've been welcomed into, and all the weird, wonderful moments in between. I honestly can't imagine what my time travelling would have been like without CS now!

What I Can Share with Hosts
One of my favourite things about Couchsurfing is sharing stories. I love hearing about how people live around the world, and I’m still on the hunt for that one place where I’ll eventually want to settle down...
I’m also into wildlife and nature, and I never pass up a chance to chat about it (I might get a bit nerdy from time to time ..). I love Scottish history and geography, too — so if you’re interested, I’m more than happy to share some tips, hidden gems, and (fun) facts 😊
