Overview
About Me
After four years of travel I guess I've "settled down"...for now 😆 I'll be in Hong Kong for at least a year as an English teacher. And I am so excited to be able to use this opportunity to start hosting again after 4 years as a guest! It's true that I am not a local or even close. But I do have local friends that can introduce us to Hong Kong culture! And the fact that I am relatively new in HK too means that I have not yet gotten tired of doing all the same old popular things. You want to go check out the city skyline at Victoria Harbor? I'm in!
My favorite thing about Hong Kong, and what led me to choose to move here, is its nature. I love hiking and camping, in the mountains or on the beach, and go as much as possible. So if you want to stay with me over the weekend, be prepared for me to try and drag you along! I have extra camping gear for this purpose. If you do not want to go camping, I may not be able to commit to hosting you on Fri/Sat until last minute.
If you like to play the board game "Settlers of Catan" please let me know and I will almost certainly host you if I am available!!
Message for SOLO MALE travelers: I do host solo guys, but if so, my boyfriend will stay in the flat with us for sure on the first night and likely more nights of your stay. You would of course have your own bed, in the loft that you can see in my pictures. I hope you are okay with this, but if not, then you can kindly request to stay with another host :) he is a Couchsurfer, too, with over 100 CS experiences. When I host females and couples, he will usually not stay over, as my flat is indeed quite small.
-Some of my philosophies and favorite quotes-
As I've been traveling, well in my whole life really, the best memories are all centered around the people involved in them, so I try to make meaningful connections all along the way. The person you have by your side during an experience can make all the difference.
The glass is not just half full, it's at least 80% full. Eternal optimist here
"I would rather die with memories than dreams". Take risks and leave your comfort zone!
Pessoas não são diferentes. Culturas são! Pensamentos são diferentes, atitudes também. Mas pessoas não. No fundo, todos queremos a mesma coisa. Não importa da onde venha.
-Obrigada to the surfer who shared this one with me :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To explore the world, and share my little corner of it with others (when I am in a stationary location).
Interests
I love exploring the outdoors- especially hiking & camping, climbing, and watersports like wakeboarding and kitesurfing. I also enjoy reading fiction and fantasy novels, playing board games, and trying new beers. And since doing my first 10-day Vipassana retreat in July '22 I have been meditating daily and trying to learn as much as I can to develop my mind.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love to read, but wouldn't know where to start listing my favorite books. I read everything from fantasy and sci-fi to romance and historical fiction to books creative nonfiction. My Kindle/e-reader is one of the most essential items on any packing list of mine!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lived in the Galápagos islands for 3 months while teaching English
Ran a marathon
Wrote *almost* a whole book :)
Teach, Learn, Share
After four years in South America I'm fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, so if you are learning I can teach you some fun phrases in those languages...and if you are fluent, then I'd love to host you to try and keep my skills fresh! Spanish and Portuguese speakers, feel free to reach out to me directly in those languages. I have lived in 🇧🇷&🇨🇴.
I have also done quite a bit of backpacking in national parks around the US so I can share stories and tips on any that you may be thinking of visiting my home country.
The list of hikes I want to do in Hong Kong is quite extensive, so if you are a hiker and come to HK you will not be left without ideas!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Not gonna lie, I am not the greatest cook in the world 😆 but I have a ton of stories to share and love trying new things. Sometimes when I've surfed I've gotten ideas to do things that turned out to be first-time experiences for my hosts in their own cities, which was always fun. For example, going for a midnight swim in the river that runs through Prague. Or climbing over a wall to start hiking early and be the first ones up to the Christ Statue in Rio de Janeiro. So if you host me and are up for anything, I guarantee we will have some adventures!
