About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world, have fun, try hard and stay optimistic

ABOUT ME

After teaching HS vocal music for 32 years I have focused on rock climbing and trout fishing. I read a lot and have time to think, the greatest luxury. Sylvia works for an interior design firm, enjoys reading, movies, sewing, and is also a climber. We both believe in education and giving back to our community.

PHILOSOPHY

We are absolutely free in an astounding universe. How can anyone be bored?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have hosted some fun, fascinating people!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We couch surfed for two weeks in Japan in March 2009, and found the experience fantastic. All three hosts were wonderful, generous, informative, and fun.

Interests

Our interests: Traveling the world, music, interior design, rock climbing, gardening, philosophy, education, science, art, indie movies, knitting, scuba diving. We like to talk politics, although it is especially painful to discuss the current US president and his administration.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classical music, 1491, A history of God, The Fabric of the Cosmos, 1776, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Movies: anything thoughtful, original and well acted. We like the indie movie theater in town for non-mainstream movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We have rock climbed in many places around the USA and the world, most recently in Morocco and Cuba.
I have conducted most of the great classical pieces for chorus and orchestra.

Teach, Learn, Share

We love and collect art.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food, experiences, local rock climbing, trout fishing, and conversation.
