About Me
Currently, I am traveling the West Coast of Australia through Workaways, Helpx and Couchsurfing.
I Helpxed (volunteer for accomodation) my way through the South Island of New Zealand and Tasmania. I absolutely loved the experience of Helpx and cannot wait to continue in Western Australia.
In NZ, the connections I made with my hosts and their families were genuine and heartwarming. I felt really fulfilled with joy at the end of each stay and sad to leave. I am using these programs as a way to see the world in a unique way.
Since traveling Australia, I have been doing the backpacker/touristy route and it has made me appreciate the uniqueness of traveling as a Helpxer.
I have always wanted to travel independently along with develop new skills. I see this time in my life as an ideal moment to travel the world.
My home is Los Angeles, California and I have been enjoying a break from the grind of the city while immersing myself in a different culture along with developing a new outlook on life. I have recently left a stressful dead-end administrative job with very little paid vacation time. My trip does not have an end date. My list of places just keeps growing!
This past June, I visited Yosemite National Park and climbed Half Dome. I felt so inspired by the nature surrounding me and the experience of climbing shared with my friends. I have never been anywhere as remarkable as Yosemite. I spent a mere 3 days there, which does not even scratch the surface of the park. I returned to my office in LA and found myself daydreaming about going more places, but lacking the vacation time and money to do so. I wanted to be able to travel without being rushed to leave in a few days. I started researching ways to do so and found myself on the WWOOF NZ website and so my adventure began! I gave my notice at work, sold my things, moved out of my apartment and booked a one-way ticket to Christchurch. I could not be happier with my decision.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am Couchsurfing as a budget way to travel and to meet the locals! I will be traveling via bus or train. I will be using Helpx or Workaway. I would like to really be involved with the culture and get off the tourist path. Couchsurfing seems like a great way to do so.
