About Me

I'm 31 and still looking for the meaning of my life. Pharmacist as profession, I love science, chemistry, biology, health, medicines and medical subjects. I'm single, have no kids and currently live with my parents in a quiet house full of green space. Recently I have learned how to grow plants and was able to harvest a lot of food from my yard: lettuce, basil, anise, fennel, onion, spring onion, parsley, leek, kale, broccoli, cucumber, pea, squash, carrot, spinach and many others. We also have lemon, passion fruit and jaboticaba tree, which are typical fruits from Brazil. All organic, free of pesticides. I also produce my own manure from organic matter and earthworms trough composting. Sometimes I make delicious homemade jelly but in general I'm a lousy cook :( haha I exercise at least three times a week to keep healthy. I've completed few half-marathons in the past years, but I don't run long distances anymore. Instead of this I've been hiking, because in September - October of this year I'm going to walk the 800 km of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela (French route). I'm not doing it for religious purposes, but to know myself better and think about the third decade of my life (OMG I am growing old so fast!). Also to be a little adventurous, see nature and try my physical limits. I'll arrive in Barcelona, spend maybe 5 days around, then I departure to Pamplona and finally to Saint Jean Pied de Port, to start the pilgrimage. I'm not sure how many days I need to reach Santiago de Compostela but at the end I'll fly back to Brazil from Madrid. I hope I have time to visit the city for few days as well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a solo traveller. I think the best part of this is the opportunity to meet new people. This will be my second time abroad. The first one was in 2010-2011 when I was an IAESTE (The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) student. I ended up in Belgrade, Serbia, and had the time of my life! I was able to be in contact with many different kinds of individuals from all around the globe and it was a great experience! After that I spent some time in Manchester, UK, studying English. I also traveled around Europe (14 countries), and in a few of them I was a couchsurfer (arranged by friends, not this website). I think it's always a richer experience staying with local people. I don't appreciate feeling like a tourist. Of course, I love visiting the touristic places, taking pictures and doing few cliche stuff. But I also like to see through the locals eyes, observe how each place normally works and people do their regular activities.

Interests

As a graduate pharmacist, I really enjoy to know how this kind of establishment work in other countries. I heard a lot about the spanish way of making "atención farmacêutica" / pharmaceutical care, especially the Método Dáder (Universidad de Granada). I am an enthusiastic of promoting health habits instead of taking lots of medicines to cure diseases. But when medicines are needed, I think it's crucial using them wisely.
