Why I'm on Couchsurfing
It's easy to get a tourist point-of-view while traveling, which I have done extensively, but it's just not as satisfying or honest as learning about a place and culture from someone who has lived it.
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm currently re-reading the Lord of the Rings and finding myself falling madly in love with Aragorn. It's embarrassing, and my friends are tired of hearing about it. Neuromancer by William Gibson has been my favorite book since I read it five years ago. I also enjoyed the Harry Potter series, as well as anything by Tamora Pierce. Although I'm by no means an expert, I enjoy Miyazaki films. My guilty movie pleasures are The Fifth Element and Star Wars IV-VI.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I made Dean's List last year, which, for me, is amazing. When I was 10, I climbed Crough Patrick in the pouring rain.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you teach me how to make your favorite dish, I will be stoked, and will gladly exchange recipes for one of my family favorites. Mostly, I would just hope for advice on places to go in the area.
What I Can Share With Hosts
Although I like to experience local flavor, I will gladly cook for my hosts, or if I'm coming from a place with a kitchen, I can arrive with a few dozen baked goods of choice. I can't promise that they will be pretty, but they will taste great. Otherwise, I can't offer much besides a listening ear for all of their adventures and someone to pat their pets.
My Interests
Sustainability, animals, local food, science, local music, literature, poetry... Being outdoors makes me happy.
