ABOUT US

In 2017, my wife, Wendy, and I, Charlie (Hunter), were very excited to take leaves of absence from our jobs in Calgary to complete our long-standing bucket list ambition of riding our touring bicycles across Canada. We started in Sooke, BC on May 22nd, 2017 and finished in St John's NF on August 11, 2017.

Next up: a trip in Europe. It was to be in 2020 but Covid caused us to postpone. We began that adventure in May 2022, cycling across Greece from Athens to Corfu. But extreme heat caused us to pause. We are now excited to resume that trip at the other end, in Dunnet Head, Scotland in mid-August.

Charlie and Wendy are retired now and loving it. Charlie's working life was in education and Wendy was a dental hygienist. We have 3 grown-up children and 6 awesome grandchildren.

We are non-smokers. Both of us speak French. Charlie also loves Spanish. We love geocaching, travelling the world (including Asia, the Middle East, Europe, South and North America), working out, and our church. Charlie enjoys soccer, CFL football, Blue Jays baseball, cryptic crosswords and recycling. Wendy loves quilting, gardening and volunteer teaching pre-natal classes.

We currently host Warmshowers and Couchsurfing visitors in our home. We expect and have always been shown respect, courtesy and friendliness from the many guests we have hosted and are sure to show those qualities to people kind enough to host us. We have had amazing fun experiences and met wonderful people, some of whom we still maintain contact with.

We would be very grateful for some floor space where we could put our sleeping bags for the night. We look forward to meeting amazing people on our 2022 adventure. Thank you.
