Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Child Education:
I have two wonderful children—my daughter Sheila (born 2016) and my son Winsen (born 2023). They live in different homes in Kunming with their mothers, and I hope they can learn English from you. Anyone who stays at my home will be asked to spend at least two hours teaching them English. It’s a great way to help them develop their language skills and engage in a meaningful cultural exchange.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I’ve done is swimming along the Yangtze River, covering about 30 kilometers during the annual flood season! It was an incredible challenge, but also a profound experience, connecting me with nature in a way few ever get to experience.

Other Adventures I've Had
Traveling: Exploring new cultures and landscapes around the world.
Writing: Sharing my experiences and thoughts through words.
Cycling: Pedaling through scenic routes and thrilling landscapes.
Motorbiking: The freedom of the open road, especially in the mountains and rural areas.
Self-driving: Driving through countries and regions at my own pace.
Golfing: Enjoying the calm and challenge of a well-kept green.
Hiking: Conquering trails and witnessing breathtaking views.
Mountain Climbing: Reaching new heights and pushing my limits.
Making Friends: Meeting people from every corner of the world, and learning from their stories.
Cooking: Experimenting with flavors and sharing meals with family and friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

Traveling has been an incredible journey for me, filled with experiences that I love to teach, learn, and share.
Teach:
Traveling Experience: I love sharing the insights I’ve gained from exploring diverse cultures and places. From the best routes for a road trip to how to navigate unfamiliar cities, I’m happy to teach others how to make their travels more enjoyable and meaningful.
Swimming Adventure: Having swum across challenging waters like the Yangtze River during flood season, I can teach the importance of water safety, endurance training, and how to conquer your fear of swimming in natural environments.
Tea Culture: Yunnan’s tea culture is one of the richest in China, and I enjoy teaching others about the varieties of tea, the proper way to brew it, and the history behind it.

Learn:
New Travel Destinations: I’m always excited to learn about new places from fellow travelers. Whether it’s a hidden gem or a popular destination, I love discovering new spots to visit.
Local Traditions: The best part of traveling is learning about local cultures—whether it’s food, rituals, or daily life. I’m eager to learn from others about their customs and traditions.
Adventure Skills: From cycling techniques to hiking strategies and motorbiking skills, I’m constantly looking to learn ways to make my adventures more exciting and safer.
Share:
Stories from My Travels: I love sharing stories from my journeys—whether it’s a challenging adventure, an unexpected encounter, or a peaceful moment of reflection. Sharing these stories helps build connections and open minds.
Cultural Exchange: Whether it’s through food, language, or traditions, I believe in the power of sharing cultures. It’s a wonderful way to bridge the gap between different ways of life.

Cooking Recipes: Cooking has always been a way to bond with others. I enjoy sharing recipes from the places I’ve visited, especially dishes that tell a story about the local culture.
