ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Chelsea! I work for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Bogotá, Colombia. I've been living in Colombia for the last 7 months and I love it!

I'd like to think my friends would say I'm super fun, brilliant, and amazing, but apparently they only remember the one time I broke a chair (thanks guys, that really only happened once). I'm definitely always interested in having a good time, talking about the meaning of life, getting off the beaten path, and experiencing the strange and alternative parts of all cultures. I'm also a thumb wrestling world champion. My other skills include scrabble, Mario Kart, and quoting Back to the Future.

I'm super down for anything that you find to be worth wild. Let's go to concerts, breweries, flea markets, soup kitchens, the top of a mountain, etc. I'll try anything once!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love couchsurfing! I've only ever had amazing times with people I've met on this site. Some of my best friends have been met through couchsurfing. Whether it's scuba diving in the Philippines, eating duck fetus in Vietnam, or getting elephant kisses and having James Brown dance parties in Thailand, I have never had a dull couchsurfing experience and it's always opened up doors amazing things. Hosting is also fantastic as you get to be a tourist in your own city. Sometimes you forget how amazing the world is until you see it through fresh eyes.

Volunteering at an orphanage for children with Agent Orange related disabilities in Vietnam. Judging a high school debate in Myanmar. Getting to know the "comfort women" in South Korea. Marching with thousands of sex workers in Kolkata for sex worker rights on May Day. Getting schooled in how to drive a rickshaw in Jaipur, India. Lazing about in a house boat in Kashmir (just for starters).

I spent a year teaching English in South Korea and have my TEFL certificate. So I'd be happy to help you with your English skills. I'm an avid yogi, so I'd love to hit the park and do some crazy poses. I can also teach you the secrets of time travel and what happens when a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it.
