ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Christy. I am half-Dutch and half-Scottish. I was born in Amersfoort and grew up in Aberdeen. I lived in Manchester for one year and Edinburgh for four years, but returned to Aberdeen in 2016. I currently live in Aberdeen's beautiful West End.

I am a registered Psychotherapist and Suicide Prevention Trainer. I am also currently a Trainee Counselling Psychologist, studying on the Doctorate at Glasgow Caledonian University (I commute by train). I work and study alot.

I live on my own and have a spare 2nd bedroom, as well as a corner sofa in the living room. I work from the office most of the time, and work from home maybe 2 days per week. There are two flights of stairs to walk up to the flat (apartment).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far, I have only been active as a Host in Edinburgh. Now, it's time to welcome surfers to Aberdeen. I would still like to go out into the world as a surfer sometime.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've probably hosted around 50 surfers from 2012-2016.

I am hugely passionate about my work and studies, spending most of my time immersed in the fields of mental health, Psychology and suicide prevention.

As a former Music Conservatoire student, there are various musical instruments in my home. My primary instrument is the Double Bass (Kontrabass).

When I have spare time, I love to go to the cinema - one of my favourite places to be! And I will watch alot of movies and series at home. I will also try to arrange visits to the theatre and ballet, at least a few times a year.

Right now, I have limited opportunities to travel, due to my work and study commitments. However, I drive and have my own car, meaning road trips are thankfully always an option!

Far too much to list, and extremely varied. I was an orchestral musician for most my life, and the last non-orchestral concert that I attended was Slipknot in January 2020.

I am somewhat movie-obsessed. You'll find a few movie posters in my flat. I also have a dvd collection and acces to all your major online platforms (minus Apple).

My reading tends to centre around the topics I am studying.

I might be biased, but driving through the Scottish Highlands and Islands will always be a high point.

I can teach a wee bit of Double Bass, or share my knowledge relating to mental health, suicide prevention or Psychology. Happy to offer a listening ear, too.
