About Me

CURRENT MISSION I just want to live while I'm alive ABOUT ME I'm fun, open-minded, easy to talk to and love meeting new people. I am an international teacher and I have had the pleasure of living in South Korea, Guatemala and now Río de Janeiro, Brazil!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Traveling has reasserted my faith in genuine hospitality. Over the past few years, I have been hosted by families, offered free meals, free rides and treated as part of the family! There is no better way to learn about a culture then to spend time with the people who live in it. I view couchsurfing as a wonderful opportunity to share each others culture, views, ideas, beliefs and food! I will warn you, I ask a lot of questions! I should also warn my hosts that I don't eat meat (love seafood though!)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first couchsurfing experience was not planned. It was an offer made by an owner at a hostel in Jaisalmer, India over a cup of chai at 4am after a cold train ride. I ended up staying over a week. He taught me how to cook Indian food and I helped him with his English. I met some great friends here that I still connect with today! I continued to couchsurf in several Asian countries (Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia..) with and without the help of this website.

Interests

traveling (of course), knowledge, cultural foods, music, walking aimlessly, hitch hiking when I am tired of walking, bargaining, reading, hiking mountains, other exercise without thinking about it, diving, cards, boating, yoga...I'm up for anything!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done so many amazing things in my life since I got my passport and would love to exchange stories. What I am really looking for is to do one significant thing for someone else that will forever change their life in a positive way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I feel that you can't truly know a country until you have lived in it therefore I can share my knowledge about the United States, South Korea and Guatemala (I am still new to Brazil). I bump into lots of expats teaching abroad (yes we are lucky I know) so I like to compare notes about that as well. I try to stay in each country I visit for at least 3-4 weeks so I can exchange travel tips! I would love to practice my Spanish and Portuguese with you. I am learning how to play the ukulele and always love a good card game!
