About Me

🌳 ------ About US ------ 🚴‍♀️

HI ! My name is Cindy, but you can call me Edel.
I share my home with my feline companion, Jacinthe, and some gorgeous plants 😁. I love traveling, especially through hitchhiking and cycling adventure .

I work in nature animation to teach about local plants, wildlife, and ecosystems for associations and school classes. I’m also proud to be a scout leader ☘️ 🔥⚜️.

Sharing my passion for nature is one of my favorite things, and I keep learning more about it every day.
On weekends, I sometimes join eco-projects and nature explorations—you’re welcome to join me if you’d like! (Observing insects is one of my little joys!)

🏠------ About HOSTING ------ 🙌

• You needed to know something about the room : it's on the part "my home"

• A request a day, hour before, It is okay ! but I try to reply as soon as possible too :)

// I can cook without animals products // so don't worry if you forgot to say you are vegan in your asking !

If you are a group : I can only provide you the night if you have your stuff, like if you travelling by hitch or bike because my place is too small for a long stay of a group.

See you !

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I don’t dream of having a big house; instead, I prefer a home filled with life and meaningful connections.

I believe that when you help others, you may not get something tangible in return, but you create a special feeling that makes the world more open and generous. In 2017, during a bike trip with friends, we received so much kindness and support from people we met along the way! Now, I want to pay it forward by hosting travelers 😀.

Let’s learn and grow together to become the best versions of ourselves !

Music, Movies, and Books

A difficult question, isn’t it?

I have an appreciation for every music style, but I am particularly drawn to the ambiance of jazz and the 1970s era. BUT also :

Love singing French songs that tell a story, like those from Brassens, Piaf, and Aznavour 💕.
Klo Pelgag is one of my favorite artists—her lyrical creativity and rich musical compositions are truly captivating.

As for my favorite books (this list is by no means exhaustive):

🇫🇮- « Le Lièvre de Vatanen » by Arto Paasilinna
🇮🇹- « Le K »  by Dino Buzzati
🇺🇸- « Wild » by Cheryl Strayed
🇪🇪- « L'Homme qui savait la langue des serpents »
🇯🇵- « Remina » and other strange stories by Junji Ito
🪶- And poetry by Paul Éluard and Rupi Kaur

I’m also a huge fan of *MATILDA*, both the book and the musical 🎶📚

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my craziest adventures?

Picture this: hitchhiking in the middle of nowhere with four bikes and three friends. We ended up on a pick-up truck—two of us squeezed into the front, and two on the trailer. The driver? An elderly Greek man who didn’t speak English but could manage a charming “Comme ci, comme ça” in French (a phrase I’d never actually heard anyone use in France!). Amazingly, he kept calling us afterward to check on our progress.

Then there was the unforgettable journey: an 8,500-kilometer bike trip across Europe with my friends. We lived on the road, surviving with next to nothing—a raw, beautiful, and life-changing experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

Languages fascinate me, and I would love to explore their foundations—wherever and whenever, whether together or on the journey ahead.

I love learning new stuff so let’s make the most of the time we have by teaching and inspiring each other!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories and smiles—what more could we need? :)

I enjoy making French pancakes, sipping matcha lattes, and singing French songs (always fun!).
I can also show you how to fold birds out of paper—it’s a simple yet delightful craft.

I have a guitar at home, though I don’t know how to play. Feel free to give it a try—I’d be thrilled to sing along!

Let’s go skating together sometime—it sounds like a blast!

And when it comes to board games, I just can’t resist playing Dixit, Carcassonne, Stone Age, and many others. It would be so much fun to play a game or two together!

I love discovering new games and hobbies, just as I do with music.
