CURRENT MISSION Involved in getting better political leadership elected in Ohio. Was deeply involved in successful election of new young mayor of Cleveland, Justin Bibb. ABOUT ME Serve on national board (three years as president) of the ParentChild+ www.parentchildplus.org, a program that helps drop-out mom's toddlers not drop out. Program has peer-reviewed, published longitudinal data that demonstrates our program kids graduate from high school at middle-class rates. I spent 16 years as a state senator from Ohio. PHILOSOPHY My novel is about the teenagers who took on the Soviet tanks in Budapest in 1956. I want to popularize young people have changed the world.

We made history when we, those who worked in the South, got the 1965 voting rights bill passed. Later, I was campaign director for Carl Stokes the first black mayor of a major American city. I've been on the savannah with the animals of Africa.
