Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To be a happy, loving citizen of the world.
ABOUT ME
I'm amidst a life experiment: Half the year I live on family land in NE North Dakota running an organic farm while trying to make sense of all the industrial fields around me. The other half of the year (winter, of course), I frolic around Long Beach, my hometown, taking in gobs of delicious culture and exotic food - the two things I miss most when living on the moon. In between, I travel. I am highly addicted to yoga on the beach and live comedy.
PHILOSOPHY
I truly believe there are no strangers in this world, only friends I have yet to meet.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Since it is winter and I am staying with family, I do not have a couch to offer at this time. In the future, of course.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couchsurfed twice - once in Pierre, SD and another in Flagstaff, AZ - and found it engaging and worthwhile. I'm grateful that the so-called 'strangers' of the world have the deepest hearts. I also attend some local couchsurfing events here in Long Beach, California - fun people.
Interests
Agriculture, food, comedy, cinema, animals, writing, cooking, and, thus, eating. Travel isn't even really an official interest to me, it's more of a philosophy. Oh, and I used to teach compost and improv, though not together.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a music snob but I love learning about new music. I play the guitar and ukulele just well enough to impress drunk people. My musical interests lean toward: Tom Waits, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Neko Case, The Wood Brothers and Sinead O'Connor.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once took a year off from American life and bought a round-the-world ticket. I explored 12 countries, including 9 in Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. I draw from that experience every single day. Of course, I learned about my own nationality just by being away.
Teach, Learn, Share
People that have seen something of the world, that love taking in new information and perspectives different from their own. Again, I think it is difficult to find good listeners in this world but I usually find them in airports.
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Botswana, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, England, Fiji, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Malawi, Mexico, Namibia, New Zealand, Portugal, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe
