If you do not read my profile I will not accept your couch request :)
IMPORTANT HOSTING INFORMATION
I enjoy hosting people, but there are some things you need to remember when writing your couch request so that I can enjoy hosting you too;
* Use my name (hint: it is not "hey")
* I do not do "1 night hosting". I only host people for 2 nights or more
* Why did you choose me? (Something about my profile...?)
* When will you arrive? (Please do not arrive after 7pm)
* Tell me about your companions or give me their CouchSurfing profile
Don't let the business end (My Home) of my profile fool you. I'm a pretty nice guy ;) I like to think I am a laid back easy going fellow. I have an open door and open fridge policy - this means "make yourself at home". My humour takes many forms including dry, witty, wry, cheesy, silly, cheeky, or a combination of all. I am known to crack what is known as "dad jokes" or "Christmas bon bon" jokes.
I love Couch Surfing - it is a great way to meet people from around the world, from the comfort of my own home ;)
Take the initiative, live life - you can't wait for it to happen. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I do more hosting than "guesting". Most of my surfing has been a result of finding hosts that have hosted guests that I have also hosted.
I like to help CSers with advice on the area, traveling or ideas, as well as teaching them how to use this website. I also try to participate in CS events and activities, which is great as I have been skiing, sailing, kayaking, road trips, BBQs, and other fun things.
My experience has been very positive thus far, though I have had occasional no shows, cancellations, "free bed" seekers, "keeping my options open" people and people who spend all their time on Facebook. Those are the kind of people I am not interested in hearing from. That aside, I always love receiving Couch Surf Requests (when they are properly written).
I have participated in some CS activities in New Zealand (Auckland) and Australia (Newcastle and Sydney) - it's always fun to be thrown into such a melting pot of different people.
Reading, fire twirling, music inc live performances, the beach, kayaking, mountain biking, laser skirmish, hiking, camping, cinema, science, indoor rock climbing culture, anime, video games, even a bit of origami ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While cycling along the southern breakwall in Coffs Harbour's harbour one morning I saw a whale breach. I have also seen dolphins and a school(?) of stingrays in the harbour.
While swimming in the harbour one summer night the water was glowing where ever I kicked my feet.
New Zealand had some wonders for me - hiking halfway up an extinct volcano, black water rafting with a cave ceiling covered in glow worms, finding a tree over 1700 years old and catching a glimpse of one of the world's rarest dolphins.
Having a daughter call me Daddy is pretty amazing I have to say :)
Teach, Learn, Share
Diversity is always a good thing.
Empty what is full, fill what is empty ^_^
What I Can Share with Hosts
Occasional "tour guide", lets share dinner too, info about the area and things to see. If I'm having a party or other event I'll invite you to that too.
