About Me

I believe in living simply, sustainably, and creatively, with effort and mindfulness.

I turn to hosting to experience travel and global culture from another side. I am paying back wonderful experiences my own past hosts offered.

I will not host you if you send me a very generic request or are not traveling.

I would like to host you if you:
are from a different country
are traveling by bicycle
are a senior traveler
are an artist or a musician
can teach me to cook a new type of food
personalize your request and I can relate to you

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've had amazing, transformative couchsurfing experiences in Switzerland and Italy, and was hosted by amazing generous families in Germany and Japan when I was younger. Now, years later, I have my own space to host travelers, and want to experience the world through their eyes and show them this corner of Chicago.

Interests

I love to learn new things and share new perspectives.

  • cooking
  • juggling
  • music
  • cycling
  • embroidery
  • crafting
  • metalwork

Music, Movies, and Books

The best music is what we make together and with friends! I also love classical and folk music, and am fortunate to be embedded in a musically rich neighborhood in Chicago. I also like music that makes me dance!

I love all sorts of books - dense classic lit, lots of nonfiction, some scifi, some graphic novels.

I cannot sit still for two whole hours to watch a movie but there are some that I like. Last good one I saw was The Idiots - Lars von Trier.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Love jumping in the lake in Chicago winter when there's ice on top.

Teach, Learn, Share

How to juggle, fly a kite, fix a bike, cook something.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A futon to sleep on and fresh blankets. I can often invite you to local events. I can share access to a nearby community bike shop with used parts, stands, and tools. I have sewing machine and basic mending supplies for fixing your busted gear.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Japan, United States
