About Me

I`m Csilla. Or Reka. My parents couldn`t agree on my name, so I listen to both.

Apparently, I`m really bad at writing profiles - and yet, I dream of writing and all sorts of creative/literary pursuits. Novels, poetry, painting, film... I`ve wished and planned and perfected procrastinating and coming up with excuses.

I consider myself curious and adventurous, and am perpetually in awe of the world and the way it works and the way humans work (hence my fascination with psychology and philosophy).

I love the bizarre and the weird and unconventional as much as the beautiful and inspirational. I am easily amused, and especially fond of witty/dry humor. I also developed a high tolerance for bad jokes and puns all thanks to my brother.

Currently I am trying to figure out my place in the world and what I want to do with myself, and we'll see what happens next :)

My mission I guess would be to love, heal and inspire.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am an enthusiastic traveler, curious about places and people. I like the idea of meeting new people and facilitating each others adventures, sharing moments, connecting. Couchsurfing seems like a great opportunity both to help others and go on adventures myself.

I first stumbled across couchsurfing in Spain where I spent a semester in 2014. I`ve planned on joining since, but as a student traveling back and forth between home and uni I hadn`t had the chance to host or actively participate. I will be studying in Scotland next year, so hopefully many adventures and good things are coming! :)

Interests

The brainy things and artsy things: Literature, poetry, film, art, philosophy, psychology, science.
The things to do: Food and cooking, creating things. Sports, hiking, travelling.
The things to observe and wonder at: Nature. People. The universe.
The things to enjoy: Forks. Laughter. Sleep. Cheese. Little brothers who say weird things. Handstands. Rain and wind.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly listen to folk/indie/alternative rock, some of my favourites at the moment are: Ben Howard, Tom Rosenthal, Nick Mulvey, Hey Rosetta, Imagine Dragons, Bastille, 77 Bombay Street, George Ezra, The Tallest Man on Earth...

In movies I usually look for something inspiring and thought-provoking to chew on for days. I loved Mr. Nobody, Mai Wei, The Thin Red Line, The Butterfly effect, Die Welle, Once, Lucky Number Slevin, Amelie, The Man in the Moon, Waking Life... and of course the list can`t be complete without the LOTR movies.

Naming favourite books is the hardest, since I love many books. Agatha Christies mysteries, The Foundation series by Asimov, anything by Rejto Jeno are great favourites but I also enjoy classics or philosophical/inspiring books, like Crime and Punishment, 1984, The Tragedy of Man...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There is always something more amazing and exciting to do and look forward to - I think my amazing thing is still ahead of me.

I look forward to having interesting conversations, sharing ideas and stories and learning about different cultures. I`d be happy to share bits and pieces of Hungarian culture, recipes and experiences in general.
