About Me

I'm relaxed and open to meeting new people and places. Prefer hot weather, therefore I live in the Tropics where cold as I consider it doesn't exist. I like finding a new restaurant, new food, new block of the city, new piece of something that I hadn't seen the week before. Interacting with people from different places is always an interesting learning experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To share my experiences and what I've with others and learn something about their experiences.

Interests

Trying different foods. Visiting new places close to and far from my home. I particularly enjoy Mexican and Cajun food, but also Italian and English food. Attending festivals with cultural themes such as La Feria de las Cultura Extranjeras in Parque Bicentanario or Halloween in New York City. When I don't have time to visit places I enjoy reading about them. I really enjoy doing a day trip on the weekend to a nearby town, see what's there and try a little of the local food. Learning to dance to various music like Cumbia, Vallenato, and Salsa. Improving my Spanish. One day I'd like to learn Portuguese.

Music, Movies, and Books

Don't have an exact favorite, but I enjoy listening to Pop, Rock, Cumbia( especially as its played in the street), Vallenato, Guapango, Norteño, and Champeta. I don't watch a lot of movies, but once in awhile I'll watch a new movie that comes out of Mexico or another country. I like comedy, action, and documentary films. Enjoy reading about other countries and people from them. Movies about biology and astronomy interest me also.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I always remember the time I worked and lived in La Serena, Chile. It was the one time I felt distinctly outside my own culture and way of life. The businesses, the food, the homes, the lifestyles, and the people had little relation with the U.S. Virtually no one outside my job spoke English. The land was incredible. Flying over the Andes and driving through them along Chile's long coast is something I'll never forget. The view of the stars is the best I've ever seen.
