ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in New York City, and have spent my adult life--post 18, that is--in Montreal.
As a musician, my number one interest in new places is checking out all the amazing music there is to be heard. A close--very close--second is eating all the amazing food there is to be eaten. And that's my motivation in a nutshell.

PHILOSOPHY

Anything that fits in this box is going to sound silly. But if I tried, I would say something about respect, keen sensitivity and accepting others as well as accepting oneself.

Interests

Music, that is: jazz, traditional folk music from all corners of the world, ancient choral music, and music to dance to.
History. Knowing about what I'm seeing (and what I'm not seeing) when I'm in a place. Imagining the past.
Food. Flavors are what I live for.
Language. There is nothing like the thrill of learning new words, and hearing something you learned in a book spoken out in the real world.

Music, Movies, and Books

The only book I brought on this trip is J.D. Salinger's Nine Stories.
And on the way I bought Melville's Moby-Dick.
We could talk for a long time about books by Haruki Murakami, movies by
Stanley Kubrick, and any music at all.
