About Me
Hi!
I'm Daniel, and I cannot seem to stay in one place for too long. I guess that's a common Couchsurfer trait! I've seen many beautiful places, but there's always the possibility of something new over the horizon :).
I'm currently living in Tartu, Estonia where I am studying to get a master's degree in Folkloristics.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think the best and most important thing a human being can do in this world is to try to understand as much as they can. This is both why I love travel, and why I love couchsurfing.
As a guest, I want to soak up and learn as much as I can about you, your language, your culture, and your story.
As a host, I want to make you feel as comfortable as possible so that you can experience a world that is different from your own.
As a hangout-guy, I want to make the most of connections in whatever time we have, and also of course to have a lot of fun :)!
Traveling is so important to me, and I don't feel that I'm doing it right unless I am Couchsurfing in the places I visit.
Interests
Astronomy has been a life-long passion of mine. Telescopes are fantastic, but it's still incredible to lay back and gaze into the night sky next your tent and campfire.
I've built and use my own metal foundry in my back yard and cast aluminum and copper into sculptures as a hobby.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've gone through so many phases in terms of music in my life, and I've held onto songs and artists from each phase. They range from Mahler and Dvorak to The Beatles, John Denver, and Joni Mitchell. Many many more or course. My most recent genre is Estonian folk music.
For movies, documentaries have been inspiring me the most recently. If you haven't seen the work of Adam Curtis, I would highly recommend checking it out.
I'm not a very prolific reader, but I'm trying to get back into it. Some that I've liked are Cloud Atlas and Ritual, and The Prophet by Khalil Gibran.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So boring to just choose one!
-Landed a small plane with no prior training
-Summitted Mount Whitney with three friends
-Made great friends all over the world
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can help you learn English, cook you a few tasty dishes, teach you about American culture.
Learn: I'm ALWAYS interested to learn a new language, even if it's only a handful of words (we have to start somewhere!)
Share: Good company, conversation, and a genuine interest in you and your story
Party trick: I can split an apple in half with just my hands :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
A heartfelt and genuine desire to learn about your home, your story, and what you love :). I am someone who will never tire of learning new concepts and perspectives of this world we share, and I'd love to see things through your eyes for a time.
My mind and soul are open books as well, I adore sharing my stories and experiences with my hosts. I love the concept of bringing the world into your own home through Couchsurfing, I hope to help you do that.
