About Me

So I have been told I really should fill this bit out... and yeah, I really should.

So what do we want to know?

I'm pretty laid back and easy going.

I would go into interests and why I'm on Couchsurfing, but there seems to be boxes for that. So on to the next one!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why....?

Good question....

Mainly to meet new and interesting people. Make a few friends along the way.

And its nice to have company now and then.

Interests

Hmmmm..... Lets see....

I enjoy cooking, reading, TV and films (if you stay you'll find two bookcases in my spare room one filled with books and the other with movies including the three oldest DVDs I own The Matrix, Deep Blue Sea and Perfect Storm from my 16th birthday so 16 years ago.)

Games feature heavily; most people are gamers to one degree or another now days and while the xbox and pc titles are amazing I still have a great love for table top games. Nothing better for getting a few people together and enjoying a bit of time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Musically my tastes are pretty eclectic, to the point that I worry about putting itunes on shuffle in company as it will quite happily go from classical to recent chart to Disney songs to Tenacious D to a stage production sound track to Shania Twain to Steps.... its a mess... but all pretty singalongable to (yes, I'm sure that's a word.... maybe.)

My movie tastes are as varied as my musical tastes. Preference wise I a big sci-fi / fantasty fan but I'll watch and enjoy most things. I can usually find a resone to like most films, if not the story and acting then a well directed scence, great camera work, set design... theres a lot to apprechiate about movies.

Books, back to the sci-fi / fantasy genres, although there are lots of others that I'll read. Big favourites include Trudi Canavan and Dan Abnett. If you've ever read Mr Men or Xmen or some Doctor Who or any thing that falls between those you may well have read some of Dan Abnetts work. He is a big writer for Games Workshops Black Library and has written some of the greatest sci-fi stories I have ever read.

I have had the honour of meeting both of these immensely talented aurthors.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is a difficult section...

I could go with seeign the Logger head turtles in Turkey, which was pretty amazing.

But I'll have to go with visiting the Menin Gate in Ypres and Vimy Ridge. Two experiences from the same weekend, both equally as powerful, both different.

Vimy Ridge was a great place to be taken round and listen to the tour guides, but its the monument that takes your breath away and you cant help but be moved.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, France, Kenya, Northern Ireland, Turkey
