About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Circumnavigate the globe

ABOUT ME

I recently moved back to Amman (May 2013) and am excited to be spending a couple years working in Jordan!

I am no longer a student, but am still a pretty heavy reader and love to engage in deep conversation with people on about any topic (especially religion, politics, or other topics generally abstained from at the dinner table).

PHILOSOPHY

Seeking to be a peacemaker.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. - James 1:27

"O mankind! We made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other." - The Quran 49:13

Love each other - Jesus

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have mostly been on the surfing side of CSing during my travels in the Middle East and around the US. I'm excited to finally have a place where I am able to host and look forward to giving back in that way in the future! Unfortunately, my work schedule makes it a little hard to be a proper host during the week, but send me a request and we shall see if I'm free. I also try to meet up with CSers when I travel and am always interested in helping people out when they're in my area.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I initially got involved in CS when I was studying abroad in Jordan. I found an amazing host who helped me get my feet on the ground, and throughout the 6 months I was there, I met many of my closest friends through the local CS group and our weekly walks and other activities. I also surfed in Lebanon, Israel, Turkey, and around the West Coast of the US, and a few activities with the CS group in the Triangle.

Interests

I dabble in a lot: photography, music, climbing, hiking, sailing. I am looking forward to being able to do more of these this summer, especially getting out my sail boat! I also spend a decent bit of time with a mug of coffee and a good book. Of course, one of my favorite things is travel, but it unfortunately does not happen as often as I would like.

Music, Movies & Books

Books: The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Catch-22, Lord of the Rings, Infinite Jest, Irresistable Revolution...

Music: currently on my list - Mumford and Sons, Decemberists, Fleet Foxes, the Punch Brothers, Bon Iver, The Civil Wars, Gungor, mewithoutyou...

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Getting up at 5am to see the sunset at Angkor Wat was one of the most amazing things I've ever done, especially because we arrived before the horde of other travelers that swarmed the temple by 6am.
