Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm Daniel, a 37-year-old Brazilian traveler, originally an architect but currently embracing a new phase of life: slow traveling and connecting deeply with people and cultures around the world.
After years living and working in São Paulo, I realized that I needed more than just routine and deadlines. I left a stable job in architecture to explore the world with curiosity, an open heart, and a backpack. Since then, I've been on the road for over a year, traveling through Europe and Asia, living with locals, volunteering, and making real connections through Couchsurfing and other experiences.
I love discovering the world through people. For me, Couchsurfing isn't just a way to find a place to sleep — it's a way to see a city from the inside, through real stories and shared meals, cultural exchange, and new friendships. I’ve already been hosted in different parts of China, Portugal, Germany and more, and I always bring with me good energy, a respectful attitude, and the willingness to help with anything I can.
Some things about me:
🌿 I’m passionate about hiking and being in nature — I even helped create and organize a local hiking group in São Paulo.
🎻 I play violin, a little guitar, and love to sing (especially Brazilian music).
💃 I dance salsa and samba — and I’m always up to dance if the moment is right.
📚 I’m curious about different ways of life, languages (I speak Portuguese, English, Spanish and I'm learning Mandarin!), music, art, history, and psychology.
🍲 I love to cook with hosts or guests — and I’m always open to learning new recipes or sharing a Brazilian one!
😄 I’m sociable, flexible, independent, clean and easygoing. I love to laugh, share stories, and dive into spontaneous adventures.
I’ve met incredible people through Couchsurfing — now I have real friends in many places around the world, and I hope to keep expanding that circle.
If you’d like to know a bit more about me, feel free to check my social media (@danielschenckel on Instagram / TikTok / LinkedIn).
You’ll see my travels, my projects, and a little bit of my personality there.
Thanks for reading all of this — if we match, I’ll be grateful to share a few days and good stories with you. See you somewhere in the world! 🌍✨
🔺️A really friendly clarification (any judgment): I'm here to make friends, I don’t use this app like tinder and I'm not interested in flirting or anything similar. Thank you for your attention🔻
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I believe the best way to know a place is through its locals. I plan to travel across Asia and other destinations, and I'm excited to share experiences with my hosts and learn from them. For me, Couchsurfing is a platform that facilitates genuine connections and creates unforgettable moments.
Interests
I have many interests, ranging from music and architecture to travel and hiking. I enjoy playing violin, guitar, singing, and dancing salsa and samba, as well as exploring off-the-beaten-path places. I'm curious about new cultures, languages, and art forms, and I'm always up for a new challenge

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a strong connection with Brazilian music, especially funk and bossa nova. Internationally, I enjoy listening to Travis and I'm always open to discovering new sounds. My favorite movies include The Dreamers, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Rocky Horror Picture Show. When it comes to books, I mainly read Brazilian authors. Currently, I'm reading a book that my friend finished writing after her father, who started it, passed away during a research trip for the story.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most amazing things I've done was taking a jungle survival course, which gave me a new perspective on nature and how we connect with it. Additionally, I played tambourine in a Carnival street band in São Paulo, which was an intense and culturally enriching experience that deepened my connection with music and the joy of Brazilian festivals.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach violin and share a bit about music in general. I can also share tips on hiking safely and teach salsa and samba dancing. I speak Portuguese, English, and Spanish, and I'm currently learning Mandarin, so I can also help with those
What I Can Share with Hosts
Besides good conversation and travel stories, I can share my musical skills, cook simple dishes, or help with household tasks. If you're into hiking, we can plan a walk together, and if you love music and dancing, we can play or dance together!
