About Me

Hi, I'm Danny. I'm from Vancouver. I've been on the road travelling, based in London, and in Peru over the past decade. I am an extroverted introvert of sorts, open minded, and enjoy sitting back and sharing stories from the road. I've just come from living in the Peruvian Andes focusing on inner work with guidance of plants native to the area.

I didn't realise when I purchased a membership that it was different to my original account that I made in Australia 10 years ago. I used it for couch surfing there and met some sound hosts. In my limited time on CS, it's been a great way to connect with lovely people, and feel at home in new places.

Feel free to ask for a facebook account or chat over whatsapp before making a decision seeing as I don't have any references on my account yet.

I'm currently going between the UK and Poland looking for work and working on my.van when time and resources allow it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think I answered this above. There are financial reasons at the moment as well, but being able to get out fo the city centers and into more rural areas and hang out with locals is just tops.

Interests

I love sound system oriented music. Have an unfinished restoration project in Poland for a 79' Sven Hedin that I wanted to live and travel in around Europe and possibly back to India with. This was before Covid where I was stuck in London and drained a significant portion of my savings during this time. I've loved works from Alan Watts for a long time, getting me interested in Buddhism and other eastern practices, but I am yet to dive as deeply into these learnings as I'd like. Everything at its pace. I volunteered at the West London Buddhist center for some time. I enjoy yoga, having taken an Andean Cosmovisión yoga teacher training. Currently I'm trying to learn as much as I can about cryptocurrency and investment because I see a once in a lifetime opportunity in this space. That's what has brought me back from my inner work in Peru to find a balance between generating income and a lifestyle that resonates.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I have always really enjoyed urban-y sub bass driven sounds. I'm not so fond of the term, but yes, a lot of it is focused around dubstep music. Always enjoy a mix and like to buy records to support artists and labels I like.

Books:
• The Power of Now & To A New Earth, Eckhart Tolle
• Way of Zen, Alan Watts
• The Alchemist & The Pilgrimage, Paulo Coelho
• The Heroin Diaries, Nikki Sixx

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Sitting with the the Dalai Lama, just north of Leh in India, near the Nepalese and Pakistani border. Literally woke up one day and the family I was staying with was buzzing and when I asked, they said he was speaking near by, so yeah.. pushed other plans aside for the day..

2. Singing with a group of Israeli brothers during/after an ayahuasca ceremony. A display brotherhood and divine masculinity that's hard to describe.. just pure magic. I definitely want to learn Israeli now.

3. Having a local boy in Cambodia join me hitch hiking through the Cardomum mountains, not speaking a word of English. He saved my life when crossing a bridge on the back of a pick up. He was taking a photo of me and noticed there was a sign that the truck was about to pass under that I was completely unaware of. The sign was head height and would have killed me. He threw my camera down, lunged forward and pulled me down. Had he hesitated for two seconds, I more than likely wouldn't be here.

Teach, Learn, Share

Stories, walks, laughs, yoga, tea.. and a bit odd, but insights into the cryptocurrency market. Including the abc's of how to get set up and a simple approach to setting up a small investment.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, laughs, respect and space. I have things to keep my busy, so I'm happy doing my own thing, but also love a good time and share stories.
