Overview
About Me
Hi there! We’re a warm-hearted couple who love people, culture, and adventure. For over 16 years, Couchsurfing has been our window to the world—we’ve had the joy of hosting hundreds of travelers and have collected 260+ heartfelt references along the way.
We thrive on meaningful conversations, shared meals, spontaneous adventures, and seeing the world through your eyes. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a curious nomad, or just passing through, our home is a place for laughter, learning, and lasting friendships.
As proud locals, we love exploring our beautiful Kenya—and we’re happy to help you discover its magic beyond the guidebooks. From hidden waterfalls and bustling markets to wildlife safaris and off-the-beaten-path villages, we can connect you with authentic, affordable experiences.
Bonus: We run a community-rooted travel company, Akira Safaris (-Endless Discoveries-), offering group and custom safaris across East Africa. While Couchsurfing is about friendship, not business, if you’re ever curious about planning a deeper adventure, we’re happy to assist—no pressure at all.
Thanks for taking the time to read our profile. We’d love to host you, share stories, cook a meal, go on a run, or explore the city together.
P.S. We’re cheerful, curious, and always up for a good laugh. Come as a stranger, leave as a friend!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
How I Participate in Couchsurfing
We have been hosting Couchsurfers at our place for many years, and it’s important to us that our guests have the best possible experience. Whether it’s a long walk through our estate’s lovely pathways lined with trees and flowers, relaxing in the neighborhood over coffee or local Kenyan tea, or enjoying a beer with good music, we aim to make every moment enjoyable and convenient for our guests.
Couchsurfing Experience
Being part of the wonderful Couchsurfing community has taught us that sharing advice and experiences can make every traveler’s journey smoother and more rewarding. Here are some key pieces of advice for travelers and fellow surfers:
Learn about the host country before you travel. Understanding the local culture, economy, and social expectations helps you prepare for a more meaningful and smooth experience.
Profiles and references are guides, not guarantees. Every person is unique, and perceptions differ. While references help, trust your own judgment when deciding on a host.
Stay in touch upon arrival. It’s always best if your host can meet you at the airport or terminus. If not, a quick call can help you find the safest, most efficient, and cost-friendly way to reach your host.
Be cautious with online bookings. Many travelers fall victim to rogue agencies. Landing first, getting the local vibe, and working with your host to find reputable offices or services is often safer and more reliable.
Understand currency exchanges. Rates can fluctuate, so keep updated on your currency’s value. Once in the host country, it’s generally best to transact in local currency.
Volunteering advice. Some NGOs may charge fees or request donations. While contributing to a worthy cause is fine, many organizations value your time, energy, ideas, and knowledge more than money. Your host can help you find authentic opportunities.
Finally, guidebooks like Lonely Planet are helpful, but not definitive. Seasonal, economic, political, and social changes happen constantly, so your host’s advice and local insights are often more accurate than printed materials.
