I find couchsurfing as a great way to get new experiences and friends. The best thing about cs it's not for money : ) The more you give the more you get ! It's all about sharing :) Ideas, place to stay, food, experience. It's somthing not very common nowadays when everything is about money.

Sick as dog, in my first night in Shanghai without map without knowlege, without friends I managed somehow to navigate chinesee taxi driver to hostel on the second side of city with gestaculation. I saw map of city only once 5 hours before for few seconds. Miracles happens :)
