Hi everyone! My name is Defne, I’m 29 years old and originally from Turkey. Traveling has always been a big part of my life between the ages of 18 and 24 I spent most of my time exploring different countries, meeting wonderful people, and often staying with locals. I also hosted travelers in my home, which gave me the chance to share my own culture and create unforgettable memories.

Now, I’m starting a new journey in Africa! My goal is to experience the local lifestyle as much as possible not only by visiting places, but also by spending time with people, learning from their culture, and exchanging stories. I believe the best way to truly understand a place is through its people.

I’m an easygoing, respectful, and open-minded guest. I enjoy meaningful conversations, cooking together, exploring cities, or simply relaxing and sharing music or stories. Couchsurfing, for me, is not just about finding a place to sleep, but about creating genuine connections around the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Starting from September 15th, I will be traveling through East Africa together with a close friend, her name is Nilay. Our first stop will be beautiful Ethiopia!

I joined Couchsurfing because I believe traveling is much more meaningful when you connect with locals and experience daily life through their eyes. Since I have hosted travelers before and also stayed with locals in different countries, I know how valuable these connections can be. One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 18, I hitchhiked from Argentina to Brazil for about two days, and it was an extraordinary experience and journey for me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love connecting with people, exchanging stories, and sharing laughter. With hosts, I can share my travel experiences from more than 20 countries, as well as insights about Turkish culture, food, and traditions.

I enjoy cooking simple but delicious meals, so I’d be more than happy to prepare something from Turkish cuisine for you. I can also help with practicing turkish or spanish. if you’d like to improve your language skills.

Most importantly, I bring positive energy, respect for your home, and a genuine curiosity to learn about your way of life. For me, being a guest is not just about having a place to stay, it’s about creating memories together.
