About Me

While I can't always host, I will always make an effort with suggestions for activities!

I prioritize LGBTQI+ and/or vegan folks as can be especially tough for folks like us to find friendly couches.

I enjoy meeting people from all over the world. Traveling is an amazing thing that humans do!

FYI, my roommates and I are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and MPX. You will want to bring a mask for riding public transit in SF.

CURRENT MISSION

To connect with fellow travelers and have a good time

ABOUT ME

I'm a 55 year old openly gay vegan man. My work experience includes a great deal of time in the travel and leisure market sector. I'm presently the Office Manager for a tech company that helps to balance inequities in the American health care system. Before COVID I completed a 7 year stint working for an UHNW concierge service. I used to be a full time blogger and now I post to Twitter and Facebook for my 2000+ friends and followers.

Music, Movies, and Books

current faves:
TV: Marvel shows, American Horror Story, The Handmaids Tale. Singing competition shows and Riverdale are guilty pleasures. Judge Judy!

Books: recent reads include "Hawk Mountain." Ask me about "Utopia for Realists," "The Undocumented Americans," and poems by Mark Wunderlich. All time favorite authors include: Gertrude Stein, David Mitchell, Dennis Cooper, Sylvia Plath, Medbh McGuickian, Jose Saramago. My favorite book is "The Hearing Trumpet" by Leonora Carrington.

Music: I love opera and my favorite active vocalists are Sondra Radvanofsky, Jamie Barton, and Christian Van Horn. Grimes, Troye Sivan. James Blake. Gaga. I loved the Smiths but Moz is a jerk now and I feel sad about it. All time faves include Goldfrapp, Devo, The 5th Dimension, Lana Del Rey.

Movies: Good acting. Corny stuff. Crazy Rich Asians. Superhero flicks. Everything Fellini. Ari Aster, Jordan Peele, and Brandon Cronenberg. I love the new type of horror film. I have appeared as background cast in "All About Evil," "La Mission" (get the DVD, the streams are deeply cut) and "Diary of a Teenage Girl" for fun.

Artists: The Kienholz's, Murakami, Surrealists, Matthew Barney, I have been to the Louvre, the Hermitage, the Ufizzi. Joey DeRuy and Dayle Leibee are hanging in the house.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

climbed Cerro Chatto alone and unguided, used Scottish right-of-way to follow the river from Strathyre to Rob Roy's grave, took the back road to Machu Picchu during mudslides and had to crawl over debris to get into Aguas Calientes. At the beginning of the pandemic I was stuck in Bangkok without a flight home: that was an adventure!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an awesome homemaker - cooking, arranging flowers, painting rooms, refinishing floors, etc. I am also a kick-ass writer.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I host a fair bit so I am definitely aware that some locations get tons of requests and that some requests are unreasonable. When I surf I try to "keep it cute" and be helpful/respectful. Most places where I go I have to self cater and I must must must be in gay friendly digs or it won't work out for either of us.
