Moved to Valparaíso at the age of 18, fell in love with this magical city; lived, studied and worked there for more than 6 years.
Sometimes I study, sometimes I make music, and sometimes I work as a foreign language teacher (or other odd jobs as well). I spent my last days back home teaching Spanish to international students, and English to Chilean high school students and adults.
I've learned that one must embrace life as it comes:) Languages never cease to amaze me and I'm a big fan of all sorts sounds and melodies that make you rejoice, smile and dance.
I really enjoy meeting inspiring, brave and optimistic people who march to the rhythm of their own drum:D
Oh and my name's Diego (not "dieggnr")

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've done a fair bit of hosting and surfing here and there:)
CS has proven to be much more than just a free place to crash on. It's been an amazing way of discovering the diversity of this world by connecting with locals and travellers!
New life challenges, the ocean, lakes, cities, the sound of languages, the unpredictability of solo travel, music jams, busking, working holiday visas, exploring unusual places, creativity, education, linguistics, photography, people's stories, fruits, ice cream, beer, wine, empanadas and paltas:)
Music, Movies, and Books
Un poco de todo: latin, andean, reggae, rock, cumbia chilombiana, experimental, acoustic, percussions... anything with a brass section is always tasty.
Books, movies and documentaries that inspire you to do something in the real world.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Not sure if it counts but I experienced a few severe earthquakes as a teenager in 2005 and 2007. Tsunami alert, old ladies screaming, dogs going crazy and subsequent evacuation included; just another normal day in Chile;)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you Español, English or melodica and give you some insights into Chilean culture and language (español chileno po).
I could share a meal anytime. Though I might not always be able to host you, feel free to drop me a line if you're in town and need any help, want to play some songs, or have a beer.
I'd like to learn how to cook new recipes, write songs, sing properly and take better photos. The latter can be found on my IG account I opened for last year and is slowly becoming my official (and only!) travel photo album, check it out and feel free to give any feedback:D -> http://instagram.com/dieggnr
