Moved to Valparaíso at the age of 18, fell in love with this magical city, lived there for more than 6 years.
Sometimes I study, sometimes I make music, and sometimes I work as a foreign language teacher. I spent my last days back home teaching Spanish to international students, and English to my fellow chileans:)
I've learned that one must embrace life as it comes, with every single up and down it brings along. I enjoy meeting inspiring, brave and optimistic people who march to the rhythm of their own drum.
Languages never cease to amaze me and I'm a big fan of all sorts sounds and melodies that make you rejoice, smile and dance!!
Oh and my name's Diego (not dieggnr) ***copy paste request red flag*** haha

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've done a fair bit of hosting and surfing here and there:)
CS is definitely MUCH more than just a free place to crash on. Discovering and connecting with humans from different backgrounds has been an amazing way of exploring the world and welcoming people at home!
New life challenges, the ocean, rivers, beaches, lakes, big cities, small cities, the sound of languages, the unpredictability of solo travel, music jams, busking, working hard, working smart, visiting unusual places, creativity, education, linguistics, photography, people's diversity, people's stories, people's projects, fruits, ice cream, beer, wine, empanadas and paltas:)
Oh and I'm always up for practising some of my favourite languages like Português, Deutsch, Svenska or Suomi among others!!
Music, Movies, and Books
Música: un poco de todo! Latin and andean music, reggae, rock, cumbia chilombiana, experimental, acoustic, percussions... anything with a brass section is always tasty!
Libros/películas: anything that inspires people to do something in the real world:)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Severe earthquakes in northern Chile as a teenager (2005-07). Tsunami alert included. I was home alone and a teenager; it was insane haha.
Moving to Valparaíso (2008).
Crunchy Town Melbourne (2016-17).
87-day solo trip in Europe (2016).
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you Español, English or melodica and give you some insights into Chilean culture and language (español chileno po).
I'd like to learn how to properly take photos/shoot videos with my camera, cook new recipes, write songs and sing.
I could share a meal anytime. Though I might not always be able to host you, feel free to drop me a line if you're in town and need any help or want to play a few songs/grab a beer!
