About Me

Hello! I´m a pretty extroverted guy who loves the outdoors and creating meaningful human connections (in every conversation one can learn a lot about life and oneself). I can spend hours walking while engaging in a deep dialogue with another person. My week basically consists of four things: working remotely (I'm a psychotherapist and I also teach), studying (more on psychotherapy), training (gym, running and hiking are my favorite activities these days), and meeting people (both my regular group of friends and getting out of your comfort zone with new people). I am passionate about mental health, it is my goal in life to make this world a little more compassionate while I am in it, and compassion can take many forms (which we can talk about if you like).

*I’m currently experiencing my third solo adventure, I hope to be back in Peru in October so I can host again and keep the chain.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I´m excited to meet people from other cultures, so I can get to know different places through the lens of their local residents; this way I feel more accompanied (while I present my culture to others). I created this account when I solo traveled to the US for three months (my backpack and I against the world). CS taught me that it is possible to have a community of friends even before stepping foot in a new place and that the people who often travel sees the world in a different way, much kinder and empathetic. To whoever reads this, I hope we can meet, whether to share a day of sightseeing together, a coffee or if I have the pleasure of being hosted by you. Regarding the latter, I really appreciate all the help I can receive (even the effort of reading this is important, so thank you for considering me), it never ceases to amaze me how people I met through this platform had the hospitality to welcome me into their homes (and today I have the pleasure of calling them friends). I'm pretty sure we can create meaningful and fun memories if we get the chance to meet each other.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a soft rock kind of guy, my favorite band is Imagine Dragons tho (not sure if it fits the genre lol). I also like pop, latin and reggaeton. Movies wise, I love horror films, and dramas that really allows you to undertand the characters POVs, I'm also into mainstream films like marvel but not in depth; in summary I'm open to pretty much any movie. I love to read about psychology, I've wanted to study it since I'm twelve years old so I truly do love it. This is why I have to force myself to read other things and, when that happens, I end up grabbing some classics or dramas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having taken the risk of traveling alone for three months to the United States at 26 years old. While it is not unusual for backpackers to exist in the world, it is something very rare to see in my culture (Peru). Furthermore, I took this trip in parallel with work (I didn't want to stop seeing patients because of the money and because I love what I do). By the end of that season, I visited ten states on the east coast, in addition to Puerto Rico and Mexico (the latter two in the company of travel friends I met on the same trip through CS). It's an experience that taught me a lot about myself, and this is why I decided to do it again just four months after returning to my country. My second trip was planned to be a six-weeks visit to Argentina, but it ended up being an eight-months adventure accross three continents. It doesn’t stop to amaze me how much growth as a human being traveling allows and I’ll be thrilled to share theses reflections with whoever is interested. On the other hand, I love volunteer work, I'm a director at an NGO that focuses on mental health. I've done many social projects teaching low income communities about selfcare, parental strategies, how to handle emotions, grief and a bunch of other topics. It is important to me to share my resources as other people did for me. I've had family financial struggles growing up and I had opportunities to get scholarships that had gotten me to where I am (now I have the possibility to return the favor to the world).

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an open book, you can ask me about my views of life, my culture or mental health related topics. I love conversations, I love to teach, I love to learn. I'm really curious about how things work on other countries, and to live like a local during my stay: to me traveling implies getting to know the real people and their everyday, not just to take the IG photos. I like to explore new places and if someone if willing to join even better! We can share photos, anecdotes, dishes (cook decently). I hope I can match with wonderful people that make travelling a delight (as it should be).

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can go outside and train together, chat, explore and take awesome pictures. I maybe can cook. You are giving me a hand if you let me stay with you, I'd want to reurn the favor one way or another if possible. If you have any ideas feel free to let me know :)
