CURRENT MISSION
Discover if another world is possible
ABOUT ME
Well, I'm a hopeless idealist who dropped out of college because he needs some real, solid life skills before he tries again. Don't get me wrong, I love learning, but right now... I am just confused about who and were I am and should be so I think I'm gonna have some adventures and enjoy life first.
PHILOSOPHY
I guess, if I have to define it... things just sort of happen, and no one really knows why. I'm just along for the ride, trying to make the best of a confusing situation. So my ultimate "life goal" (the only one that makes sense to me, anyway) is to make sure that I contribute more to the world than I take out of it... yeah, that makes sense. If I make a net positive contribution to everyone else's life, I'm happy.
Also, I'm a vegan, but not a dick about it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Right now, I'm taking more than I'm giving, unfortunately. I need a few couches to surf as I hitchhike around the country. Back in my hometown, I live with my parents, so true hosting is not really possible for me. But I love meeting people, and I would definitely spend a day on the town with someone in Portland who had nothing to do. And, as soon as I strike out on my own and have a couch to offer, I'm more than happy to do it.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Well, this is the first time I've done anything like this. I'm trying to break into the world after two long decades in a narrow suburban track. The other day, though, a guy who picked me up in San Diego named Mike showed me around San Fran. It was pretty epic. So, meeting people like that, and being able to be a host like that myself, is something I'm really interested in.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies I enjoy watching but have never been able to really appreciate artistically. Books, the ones I REALLY enjoy are either philosophy (Foucault, Camus, books about anarchy are particular favorites) or science fiction (Neil Stephenson!). Music, I mostly like indie rock and pop; really melodic or with good rhythm, with prominent guitar instrumentation. Some diverse examples are Wolf Parade, The Shins, Of Montreal, TV on the Radio. I'll listen to anything that doesn't have really stupid lyrics though.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiked to California and pitching a tent in San Francisco was amazingly stupid, don't know if that counts. The most amazing thing I've SEEN is probably the Great Wall of China.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I know German because I lived there for about five years, and French from high school. I also have a different take on America, having not grown up here during my formative years. I am also enamored with anarchism and rebellion (against oppressive systems, not against people just to be a dick) so if you want to see hopeless idealism in action, I'm your man!
