About Me

I would consider myself a pretty laid back, easy to talk to guy. I love spending time with friends, meeting new people, and trying new things. I try to walk into every situation with a smile and an open mind.

I have a deep interest in foreign languages, I speak conversational French, basic Spanish, and bits of German. I am a Senior in college for Electrical Engineering at the University of Akron and couldn't be happier. My focus is on renewable energy engineering and small scale wind and solar power and a close second being biomimicry, which is the study of systems in the natural world for application in our world.

Akron is a lovely city with plenty of things for to do. It is a city which is on the up and up with many great people trying to make the city a better place from a grassroots level.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I one day hope to travel the world, but not the horrible tour bus style of tourism. I learned while visiting Colombia that you need to go the road less traveled to really experience a culture. That is why couch surfing is so appealing to me, it gives people the opportunity to make lifelong friends while truly being able to experience a countries culture.

Interests

I love spending time with people, traveling, playing soccer/hockey, being out in nature, and being adventurous

Food is a big interest of mine, it makes up a big part of my travel interests as well in no small part thanks to Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. Vietnamese food is at the top of my list but I also very much enjoy Hispanic, Japanese, and Greek food.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the winter of 2017 I had the experience of a lifetime backpacking with a friend in Colombia. One of the many adventures we had was traveling to the city of Santa Marta on the coast, where they offer treks to the lost city of Ciudad Perdida. Over the course of four days we trekked through the mountains meeting people from all over the world, some of whom I still speak to today. We reached the lost city just before dawn, climbing 1300 stairs on our way to the top. The sun breaking over the mountain tops revealing the ancient city is to this day one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
