CURRENT MISSION Summer 2017 Looks like I'm going to be doing my first thru hike on the Colorado Trail... Pray for me, Blessings are always welcome =). Hoping to stay with some CS'ers along the way and meetup in my resupply towns. Summer 2015 To Hitchhike/backpack my way around the western states in style! So far this adventure has taken me through Utah, Wyonming, Idaho, Montana, Washington, and Oregon. I've met some amazing people along the way, I've met a few kindred spirits, I was offered to ride all the way to Iowa and be a farm hand for the summer, I was robbed while sleeping on a bench in downtown Portland, and I was invited with open arms into a Czechoslovakian church who took the time to pray for me and all my adventures, just to mention a few interesting moments. ABOUT ME Summer 2017 These days I spend most of my time taking care of my Chickens, Turkeys, Ducks, and wabbits. I've been putting in some major miles on my mt. bike, and just enjoying a frugal life and the simple pleasures it brings. I do odd jobs from time to time, one of those jobs recently lined me up with a sweetheart of a woman, who has somehow talked me into being her trailbuddy on the CT. In all fairness, I was hoping for an adventure like this, so I was pretty easy to recruit. Summer 2015 I'm a 39 year old guy (39 ugh), I enjoy helping people, and trying to spread some love in the world. I can be adventurous but in a balanced way, and really enjoy listening to peoples experiences and stories. One of the reasons I'm on couchsurfing is people with the best stories always seem to be travelers, that's just one reason I'm seeking to travel and adventure more at this phase of my life. PHILOSOPHY Respect each and everyone's personal path, while staying true to myself. Do no harm and try not to participate in associations that manifest conflict. Spread happiness when possible =) SOME PLACES I'VE BEEN AND ADVICE I CAN GIVE Yellowstone can actually be done on a budget if you got the tact. Tip 1: Leave the car and use the hike/bike option at the campsites, during my vistit it was 8 bucks a night and always had sites available. Tip 2: Hitch through the park, I have found that hitching can be very hot/cold so don't get overly discouraged if you don't have any luck at first, be patient, and be aware of the personality your projecting, the rides will come. Having a girl with you can really help, however I don't recommend women hitch alone. Good Luck! Tip 3: Most ranger stations will charge your devices for you, all you have to do is sign a liability waiver. I've even got them to hold my pack for me when I didnt feel comfortable leaving it at my site, but that can be hit or miss. www.yellowstonepark.com

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW AND WHY I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING Summer 2017 Looking for some cool people to stay with along the CT, perhaps a hammock hotel, I love CSers, I always have good experiences when I stay with people on this network, and I of course enjoy making new friends. Summer 2015 Well I set this acct. up a few years ago and just never used it. sorry about that. However I'm giving it a run now, I've met a couple of surfers and they are just great people! Staying with a local versus a hotel is hands down no contest, even though my experiences are limited, I find CS to be an amazing experience. On a down note, my caretaking includes room and board but very limited accommodations so its difficult for me to host, but I want to start doing local events as a way to give local surfers another option when there in my area. This community needs to grow, not shrink! COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I shared the road with a few CSers I met and lined up through the network and have stayed with some great host. Music, Movies, and Books
recent artist: John Mayer, Andrew bird, Huey lewis, junior jack, Dylan, Bob Marley, Daft punk, Taylor smith, the Fray, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay, Pearl Jam, OneRepublic Florence + The Machine, and just listening to the radio, we have some good stations in Flagstaff. I'm struggling through the Faust and love Netflix.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I overcame opiate addiction, I saved a drowning girl, surfed during a hurricane, survived a roll over, hitchhiked my way from Flagstaff to Yellowstone, then over to Seattle, down to Portland, over to Florence. up the 101 to Astoria and then back down again all the way to San Fran. I've ran into some people who have been all over and make what I've done look like childs play, but for me, its been amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to philosophize when I'm in the mood, law and human rights are always interesting subjects, although frustrating at times. I'm kind of a jack of all trades, learning some new carpentry skills is always cool. Learning how to eat less meat, that's a tuff one for me.
What I Can Share With Hosts
I'm currently traveling, but when I'm in town I can show you around and take you on some cool hikes if your game. Just message me, even if I'm not accepting guest at the time. :)
My Interests
Finding the differences yet basic similarities of all people, tinkering on my guitar, mellow cruising on my skateboard. Mt. biking, getting the most out of life without spending all my time paying for it, and concentrated nutrition.
