I've been away from CS for a long time, but checking it out again.
Back in 2008, I lived in a house with four other couchsurfers and we hosted a LOT of people. In 2009, I didn't host but I went to a lot of CS events.
Since then, I've mostly been away from CS. In that time, I did a lot of things. I started two companies and changed jobs a few times, started a local technology meetup etc.
I now live in a house on my own, so plenty of hosting space, but also a bit out of the way from the most common CS destinations. Still, if you're in the area, I'd be happy to meet up and maybe host.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I hosted a load of people in summer/autumn 2008 when I lived in a big couchsurfing house and I regularly attend CS events. The most amount of people we ever hosted at one time was 12!
I've been away from it for a while, but I hope to get involved again, do some travelling and host people once more.
I like lots of things. I like technology, electronics and computers. I like music, both listening and playing (trying to learn guitar and keyboard - very very very slowly). I like snowboarding (though I'm not very good yet). I like food. I like meeting people. I like comedy, scifi and horror films and tv shows. I like reading and I like drawing.
I probably like other things too.
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Cheech & Chongs Up In Smoke is one of my favourite films. Other films I really like: Donnie Darko, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, Pirates of the Carribbean, Operation Takedown, Accepted, Stalker, Catch me if you can.. plenty more.
Music: I like most music.
Books: Roadside Picnic deserves to be reread.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Can't think of one thing to single out, so here's three things that left an impression on me:
The desert outside of Damascas. The Umayyad Mosque in Damascas. The mountains in Canada.
I also took the dive and started two companies (back to back), without any savings or safety net. It's character building, supposedly.
Teach, Learn, Share
After you've met me, if you feel theres something I can teach which you'd like to learn, I'd certainly be happy help.
