About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live bravely, enjoy every minute and commit random acts of kindness.

ABOUT ME

I am a writer, artist and performance poet. I have worked in various aspects of the Arts, and have dabbled in acting, directing, painting, modelling, dancing and costume design among other things. I hope to travel more in the future, but most of my adventures at the moment happen here in Belfast. I love Belfast's people, and the thriving Arts scene here.

PHILOSOPHY

Positivity is powerful.

If you set your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can provide a large blow-up bed in my cosy living room, with lots of bedding, enough for a couple of people. I live in a quiet area of Belfast, near to lots of cafes and shops, about 1 mile from Belfast city centre.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I have had great fun having couch surfers to stay. I'd also like to 'surf' myself more in the future. I hope to make more lasting connections and memories.

Interests

Some of my favourite things are the Edinburgh Festival, Chicago, Thailand, The Mourne Mountains, The Scottish Highlands, reading, swimming, cycling, live music, baking, yoga, being creative, animation, film-making, cinema, improv, clowning, comedy, hilarity, connection, compassion, intelligence, food, food and more food.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am passionate about films. Some of my favourite films are Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, Being John Malcovich, It's a Wonderful Life, Harold and Maude, Back To The Future (I think II is my favourite), Drop Dead Fred, Parenthood, The Muppets Christmas Carol, Get Out, Life Is Beautiful, An American Tail, Trains Planes and Automobiles, and anything with Robin Williams in it.

I love books, and if you ever visit you can see that I have a well-loved library of mostly poetry, history of art and children's literature, but recently I've also been getting more into biographies, memoir and graphic novels.

Music: too much to list, but just some of my favourites are Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Van Morrison, Alanis Morrisette, Pink Floyd.. I love going to see live music, especially blues/soul music..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During my stay in Chicago in Dec/Jan 2019 I won the Green Mill Poetry Slam 3 times :)

(I've written and created various bits and pieces over the years, with my main focus these days being spoken word poetry. If you'd like to explore any of my work, you can google my name/'Earth to Alice'.)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always willing to encourage people to explore the Arts, not just as an audience member but to take part too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food, conversation, help with various chores, company.. I am also a very good cook and love to bake too (cookies, banana bread, brownies, pancakes..)
