About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the idea, the community, the trust and the money saved too of course :) Big perk! :D
Some of the nicest, most genuine people I've met, have been my couchsurfing hosts. They always offer such a unique experience that often turn to long-term relationships :)
As a rule, surfers are usually very respectful of your house and offer so many interesting stories and experiences :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to almost every kind of music but I have to admit that Taylor Swift is my guilty pleasure. Except, she's universally acknowledged to be awesome now so I don't have to feel guilty any more :)
My favourite movies of all times are Lord of the Rings, I even saw it live in concert and wept through most of it. I also have a major soft spot for Armageddon.
I am an avid reader. Yes I am one of those kids who grew up with Harry Potter and was in line for every midnight book release and movie premiere. As a English lit graduate, I've read most classics. But I love Fitzgerald (both Zelda and Scott), Browning, Tennyson, and Wilde. You get bonus points if you know who Tamora Pierce is.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I completed a one year working-holiday visa in Barcelona, au-paired in Australia (AMAZING!), and I am currently travelling for 6 months alone around Europe and Asia - I don't know if that counts as amazing but "we don't see things as they are, we see them as we are" (Anaïs Nin).

Tips about Calgary!
VISIT IN SUMMER!!!! Unless you like extreme winter sports :) But the city really comes alive when the weather warms up. If you can visit during Stampede, you've hit the jackpot!

For really good ice cream, head to Village Ice cream - I like it better than Made by Marcus. Crave has the BEST cupcakes in the entire world (especially if you like red velvet). The rooftop patio of Nationals on Stephen Ave is always a good time! Vero's bistro in Kensington has brunch to die for; get the sweet potato gnocchi and french toast (it has passion fruit creme brulee stuffed inside) or wte you want. The entire menu is amazing! Kensington is also a nice neighbourhood to walk around in and probably Calgary's only "hipster" area.
