To meet people!
I recently graduated from a liberal arts college in Portland with a BA in Psychology. After my junior year a spent a year away from school and completed a semester of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) in Patagonia. Afterward I joined CouchSufing, canceled my ticket back to the US, and backpacked around South America for the next 7 months. I had some of the best experiences of my life.
I'm currently living and working in Portland, Oregon but I'll be moving to Burlington, Vermont in August 2013. Unfortunately I live in a small house with a few folks so I can't offer our couch, but if you're in town and want to chat or want to get out of town to hang out on a river or Mt. Hood, let me know! I'd be happy to show you around.
I'm working on the idea that there's no plateau in life. In other words, I want to find a balance between doing things for the moment and working toward long term goals. I'd like to enjoy the process and invest in the future at the same time.

Music, Movies, and Books
Right now my favorite authors are Milan Kundera, Michael Chabon, Kurt Vonnegut, George Orwell, and Tom Robins.
My favorite musicians at the moment: Paul Simon, Tom Waits, The Black Keys, Gillian Welch, The Gotan Project, The Wood Brothers, Jerry Garcia, Dave Rawlings, Tribe Called Quest, Big Boi, Aesop Rock, Lee Perry, Israel Vibration, and so much more.
Movies: I like most Wes Anderson movies, I'm a huge fan of The Big Labowski, and the last movie I saw was Apollo 18 which was probably the worst movie I've ever seen which is saying a lot because I usually like bad movies but this one was just beyond bad.
