About Me
Hi there!
My name is Elyas, and I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I went to university in London, Ontario. Though I was not born in Canada, and I often find myself calling Toronto a second home. But home, for me, has always been a moving target. My new home is Vancouver, British Columbia.
Someone recently asked me how it feels to move from place to place especially when it’s not by choice. I told them that every time you leave a place behind, it takes a small piece of you with it. When people talk about feeling homesick, I sometimes wonder where exactly that home is. Maybe it’s because I was forced to leave my family and everything behind at a young age.
My adventure with Couchsurfing began at 17 during my first trip to India. This experience opened my world to amazing friendships, fascinating places, and incredible stories. I'm passionate about continuing this journey, discovering new cultures, and exploring new corners of the world.
I'm excited to meet new people, share experiences, and learn from each other's backgrounds. Looking forward to connecting with fellow travellers and hosts along the way!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2024, I drove from Vancouver, British Columbia to Toronto, Ontario, a memorable journey where I explored many cities and beautiful places along the way. In 2025, I made the return trip from Toronto to Vancouver, this time traveling through the United States. That adventure brought my total number of visited U.S. states to 20 so far.
