About Me

Hey! I’m Emile

Couchsurfing is a unique way of meeting new people and I’m happy to be a part of it!
For me it has been lots of fascinating encounters, experiences and becoming friends for life.
Please write me about anything, meeting, hosting, life etc!

I asked my mum at 7 years old which country is the furthest away from the Netherlands. She told me New Zealand, which is where I wanted to go

I first moved to Riga in Eastern Europe as a teenager to study medicine for 7 years. Then went to the UK after my medical degree in the pandemic to work in hospitals to replace doctors with Covid week after week
Then finally I was able to go to my dream land: New Zealand.

Let's go on a journey through this paradise of a magic country!

My interests used to be specific, now thanks to travelling all over the world and meeting this many people, my interests have become everything.

I am currently training as a paediatrician, you can ask me anything you like about paediatric medicine, paediatric oncology, cardiology, surgery and neonatology, they are really interesting topics!

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: whatever my friends/family play. I’ve got friends who play awesome guitar/piano/many more instruments. My housemate is an amazing DJ and my mum plays very good cello. Otherwise I like going to techno festivals, usually around Berlin.

Movies: my Nicaraguan friend plays in films, I liked seeing those.

Books: my grandfather’s literature. He has published around 30 books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My phone was hacked by the North Korean government while I was travelling around South Korea, the story is bizarre. I have partied with the Transsylvanian mafia while in Romania, I have presented an international paper on paediatric surgery in Ecuador, I won a contest on an Australian TV-show, I worked at a hospital at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro specialised in mountaineering accidents, I had a 15-minute conversation with the king of the Netherlands, many amazing adventures in Iran and Chernobyl, I can tell you about each and everyone of them.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you about my own cultures (I think that would include Dutch, British and Latvian probably) and the cultures I have seen.
Or maybe about baby/children medicine and surgery if you think it's interesting.

Countries I’ve Visited
