About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore, challenge myself, make music, meet people, get off the beaten path, travel more, yet find more stability

ABOUT ME

I want to travel and explore more places in the world. Currently, my steadfast is on Baranof Island in Southeast Alaska. Most of my work history and most recent work has been in the fishing or hunting industry in Alaska and New Zealand. I have had many random occupations...from packing mandarines to long lining for Tuna in Australia to giving kayak instruction to managing remote wild caught fish buying stations and catering events to waitressing and bartending to massive haul out projects on marine vessels to packing with horses and hunting for extended periods of time in remote bush camps...to name a few...They all seem to be geared towards the outdoor lifestyle. I have been in Alaska on and off for 16 years and I love it. I was born in Massachusetts but moved to Alaska when I was 18 and have pretty much stayed here ever since!
I have always been told I have an old soul, that I am very outgoing, down to earth and spontaneous but very loving and understanding. I am a fan of fun and banter! I am generally energetic but still very capable of laying around, saaay, anywhere in the sun! I am not afraid to get wet or get dirty! Although I must admit I am a bit afraid of spiders and large sharks even though I've ventured where they are plentiful---when encountered you will probably see me squirm a bit-or scream like a ninny. I love meeting new people and learning about them and their lives and their travels. I can't wait for the next journey. I am ALWAYS up for trying new things!

PHILOSOPHY

"If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything"
"Leap, and the net will appear"
And, its corny but something my mother used to say to me: "Sing like no one is listening, Dance like no one is watching, and Love like you'll never get hurt"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have used couchsurfing pretty much everywhere I've traveled. It is an amazing concept and I am all for it! Every experience I have had has been awesome and unique. We are all just humans and we all need the same things to live. This social worldwide network really brings people together and enables us to have homes away from home and make new friends and it opens doors to new experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

The lists are too long: Movies: they're fun every now and then--Music: infinite and fun all the time--Books: need to read more but I most recently read Shantaram....amazing book I highly recommend it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Only one? Lets share the things we've done in person! There are so many amazing experiences.... hmmm.....the one amazing thing that seemed to create an everlasting ripple of incredible experiences was when I packed my bags and moved to Alaska alone when I was 18. I'll throw a couple more in there: skydiving, swam and played with wild dolphins, looked out upon vast landscapes after climbing to high heights from snow peaked mountains to perpetual flatlands with trees with ancient stone structures breaking the horizon.

Teach, Learn, Share
