About Me

Hi, my name is Erik. I am first and foremost a father of two beautiful kids. I am also a professional chef that has been in the industry for over 15 years. I was married but am now going through a divorce and figured this is my time to focus on the things I’ve always wanted for myself. One of those things being taking a few months to travel outside of the US and seeing places I’ve never seen and meeting people I’ve never met. And hopefully coming to find myself in a more inspired place in my life and capabilities to see that traveling can be cost-efficient and friendly. I want to get lost in the world of beautiful cities and the people residing there. I want to explore the culture as a local, not as a tourist. And be absorbed in it and truly learn so that I can have a better understanding of the world around me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I plan my 3-month travel plans starting in January, I want to be able to connect with people that are local to the cities I visit and see what’s out there. This seemed like a great resource for that.

Interests

I’m open to anything and everything that’s going to make me better and my language of the world much more in-depth.

  • cooking
  • movies
  • eating out
  • adventure travel

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all sorts of music. Not really a genre of music I can’t vibe with. I grew up dancing and being culturally absorbed with various styles. I love action and humor movies. I read A LOT of books. They are the true jewels of a mind being opened. I average anywhere between 2-3 books a week.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Became a father for two amazing kids that I want to show the possibilities of living out your dream.

Teach, Learn, Share

Just take me to the local farmers market and leave me in the kitchen. I will teach and cook dishes all day. I can share my wealth of culinary experience and hopefully make your life in the kitchen a lot more exciting and simple.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, teach to cook, clean or assist with household chores.

Countries I’ve Visited

Dominican Republic
