To become free from the regret of the past and the fear of the future.
The best way to find out about me is to meet me! But I s'pose a list of attributes could help you get an idea.
I am a nonconventional person. Quirky. I am sensitive, attentive and analytical and tend to be well-prepared but I never plan too far into the future. I love spontaneity. I'm an introvert, a dreamer, an explorer. I am a hard shell with a soft interior and I bend to my surroundings. Food, crafts and board games are my passions, as is biking. Living a slower, tech-disconnected, low-impact lifestyle and reconnecting with nature is my goal.
I suffer from social anxiety but I battle it every day and have gotten quite a ways now! I've got better things to do with my life than be miserable. When unaffected by my anxieties I feel awesome and do the most unexpected things. People call me ironic. They also call me Kate ; )
Problems are opportunities in disguise.
Don't be sad that it ended. Be happy that it happened.
Assumption leads to misery. We never really know the whole truth, we never really know what others are thinking, and never really know what certain opportunities have to offer us.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I don't know what it is about Couchsurfing, but so often do strangers from here meet in random places or trust others into their personl spaces and, from the first moment they meet, act like they're friends they haven't seen in a long time. It's a beautiful feeling, one of trust and ease of communication that sadly is often lacking in this world, and so I search it out and try to integrate as many people as I can into it!
I attend various events and sometimes host my own, mostly potlucks and board game nights. I've surfed many a couch in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Iceland, the UK and Morocco and I've hosted several times.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've always loved National Geographics and how-to books, though the occasional sci-fi or fantasy adventure entertains me too. I listen to a wide range of music; from alternative rock to ambient to folk punk to ska to reggae to melodic death metal to low-fi. Love the 90s. Movies? Most Sci-Fi flicks, Lost in Translation, The Motorcycle Diaries, Master and Commander, District 9, 127 Hours, Children of Men, Jurassic Park, Into the Wild, Under The Tuscan Sun, Penelope, What we do in the Shadows, Galaxy Quest, Passengers, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Interstellar pop into mind. I'm a fan of anime as well.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiking in Iceland and waking up at 2am to enjoy the sunrise on the top of a mountain, above the clouds.
Gone swimming in the ocean with friends in Mexico while a hurricane was in sight and the city was flooded, and almost drowned. Amazingly Stupid is more like it.
Appreciating the little things...
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd be happy to teach you some board games, cooking tips, healthy veggie recipes and how to knit.
I'm open to learning whatever the moment inspires you to share!
My current fields of interest: gardening, owning chooks, sustainable living, awesome recipes!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can't host at the moment but I am always up for potlucks and board game nights!
