Hi there and welcome to my profile!

I'm Essi, usually called Esme. I'm a hiker, student, an open-minded and cheerful person from Finland, who loves everything that has anything to do with international stuff. I will soon graduate as a social worker, and I'm really hoping to start to work with immigrants and refugees. My life's best experiences so far have been my two exchange studies, in USA and in Slovenia, and all my solo (and not solo) travels and hikes in different parts of the world. I just can't describe anything better than carrying my backpack and walking in a place where I've never been before.

This year 2025 I will do an internship in Tanzania in April-June, and I'm just looking forward to immerse myself to the culture and the language that I'm currenty trying to learn. In July I will be travelling in Europe again, and would be a perfect time to couchsurf again!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Ever since I was a child I've dreamed of travelling the world and having adventures in different countries. When I heard about Couchsurfing in 2018 I immediately knew it could be for me. I had my first incredible CS experiences in Central Europe in 2019 and also hosted two guests in Finland. I realized the culture of kindness and open-mindedness that exists within this community and fell in love with it. So glad to be part of Couchsurfing!

One couchsurfer once said; "This is the best place to meet people that think alike. The ones that trust each other and love all." I also believe that. Also when I travel, I don't remember the hostel I stayed in, I remember the people I met and talked to.

I enjoy music a lot, especially from Coldplay, Ellie Goulding, LÉON, Kodaline, OneRepublic, Smith and Thell... and some finnish artists like SANNI, Mikael Gabriel, Haloo Helsinki and KUUMAA.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've donated my egg cells twice! (I'm not sure how to say that in english though) So I have some mini versions of me there somewhere, crazy!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm pretty deep thinker and always ready to conversations about life. I'm part of the 🏳️‍🌈 community and enjoy talking about minorities and human rights, although those topics are always not fun at all. I want to live as eco-friendly and minimalistic as I can, and I'm also appreciating that in other people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will offer you nice and calm place to stay, maybe with some finnish food and good conversations :) I can also show you around the city, if I have time and if that's something you're interested in!
