*Just to clarify, because this comes up a lot: I live in HACHINOHE CITY in AOMORI PREFECTURE, not the confusingly named AOMORI CITY. They're about 30 minutes away by bullet train and two hours away by car. Plan accordingly!*
I've been living in Hachinohe City in Aomori Prefecture for 2 years now. I'm responsible for setting up a lot of events in the area, and can probably give some recommendations on what to do even if there's nothing going on!
Hachinohe is one of the northernmost stops on the Bullet Train, right before Aomori City (30 minutes away by bullet train, 2 hours away by car.)
Be kind to every man you meet, for they are all on a difficult journey.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've hosted several people at my old house in Seoul, and been the grateful recipient of some hosting in Argentina and the US. I just moved into a relatively large apartment in Hachinohe, and am currently hosting there.
Hosted people in Seoul and Japan.
Made several friends in Argentina.
Stayed a few places in the US.
Currently taking in those who are passing through Hach.
Traveling, drinking, languages, music, snowboarding, vidya games, movies, rock climbing, hockey, running, cycling, all the usual fun stuff and more.

Music, Movies, and Books
Anything written by Steinbeck, Camus, Vonnegut Jr., Gaiman, Hemingway, Conrad, Orwell, Palahniuk, etc.
Anything written/directed by Aranofsky, Nolan, Tarantino, Park Chan-wook, Fincher, Coen Bros., Kaufmen, etc.
Anything recorded by Nujabes, Arcade Fire, Brubeck, Outkast, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, TV on the Radio, Daft Punk, etc. but I find myself listening to more and more indie stuff as time goes by!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been incredibly lucky in the things I've had a chance to see and do. Unfortunately, I was incredibly unlucky in my inability to recall them unless something reminds me of it. So...recently, I got to go on a nice hike in the red rock mountains and a couple months ago I got a chance to see one of the so-called "New 7 Wonders of the World": Iguazu Falls on the border of Argentina and Brasil.
Teach, Learn, Share
I help maintain a list of monthly events going on in Aomori Prefecture:
If there's anything that sounds interesting while you're here, I can give you more info about it, just ask.
Also, the main page of that site has a lot of stuff written by local foreigners in the prefecture:
