ABOUT ME

Pragmatic, passionate and a decent enough person to have as a friend. I have not traveled a lot but been to a couple of places. I used to be a debater and been to a number of international tournaments around the globe. By default I had experienced some amazing conversation with a host of inspiring people from different nationalities. It was amazing appreciating how similar we all are despite apparent differences.

As an architect I admire modern as well as historic architecture. I love walking around pedestrian streets, squares, bazaars around the world. I recall with delight the experience around Sultan Ahmet Square in Istanbul, Tiananmen Square in Beijing, Ninjin street in Shanghai, Beijing road in Guangzhou, National mall in Washington DC, Bukit bintang in Kuala Lampur and the bazaars in Chandigarh, Darjeeling and New Delhi. As a local I cherish surfing through the street market of Chawk Bazaar, New market and Farmgate.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couch surfing. I was introduced to it by a friend in China and then by another in Dhaka. I am not sure the extend to which I can participate but can definitely meet up with travelers when someone is around Dhaka and would also love to meet up with locals when I travel abroad.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In 2007 I lived for four weeks with an American family of four- a couple, there sixteen year old son and a terminally ill grandmother. It was an amazing experience in term of understanding the similarities we all share. Caring for others you are not related to or not responsible towards was introduced to me for the very first time.

Very recently I traveled to china and had the privilege and honor of meeting up an old acquaintance who is now a dear friend. He was also the one who told me about Couch Surfing. Through him I made friends in all the cities I visited and met a host of seven extra ordinary freshmen year students in Guangzhou. With zero vocabulary in Mandarin or Cantonese I was able to accomplish a demanding seven day China tour from Beijing to Shanghai to Guangzhou. I do not suppose that would have been possible without selfless assistance from locals.

Interests

Painting, Writing, Reading, Bicycling, and of course traveling. I look forward to meeting people. I would love to show them around Dhaka and should I travel would also love being hosted.

I fantasize the adventures of Jules Verne and the romantic contrarieties of Alexander Pushkin. The thrill of a Jeffrey Archer can only be accompanied by a Dan Brown while fantasies by J K Rowling and Paolo Coelho can only by complemented by the surrealistic writing of Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

I loves movies by Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, Ang lee, Satyajit Ray among others.

In music, I love John Lennon, Oasis, Black eyed Peas, Eagle Eyed cherries, Dire Strait, Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morisette and Air Supply among others.
