About Me
CURRENT MISSION
The older I get the more I feel that time is a precious gift, vulnerable, too. It’s a pity to kill the time, but important to think about what you spend time with and for. Many opportunities might never come again… And it’s true, there is a time for everything, for smiles and tears, happiness and grief, serious concerns and for pushing these aside, time to make new friends, for sharing, for trying to understand, for passing on and thinking, what can I do here, instead of what should the world give me. Does this make sense to you?
ABOUT ME
Good friends would perhaps describe me as a curious, openminded person, who likes conversations that are serious but also to have fun. I'm quite creative and often surprise others. I'm helpful and friendly, but I respect people's privacy and enjoy my independance and freedom.
PHILOSOPHY
Carpe diem is a very popular philosophy, but it's still something to really think about in a time, where pace and mobility play such a big role. We never know, what's around the next corner, so use your head, heart and hands to get along well and perhaps even make a difference for others and your surroundings.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted about 60 -70 different people here in my home town. And when a student told me about her experiences with cs and I became a member, I couchsurfed in Malaysia for a start! Great experiences! Sometimes I contacted cs members in countries I travelled to not to stay with them, but in order to meet them for a chat.
Mostly I participate as host.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCES
It makes a huge difference meeting local people while travelling. I'm very grateful and humble when people open their homes to a stranger and let this person come closer.I hope I understand their culture and life a little better. And I certainly learn more about myself, too.
I also visited a wonderful family in my own country, just another city and area. Couchsurfing is not about saving the money for a hotel room. It's about exchanging views on life. I think it's quite ok to be choosy, both sides of course. If you just don't click together, the experience is not very giving, but perhaps you learn from it anyway.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Visiting Africa for the first time was a fantastic experience! I often felt it was insufficient to express all these impressions with words!
Watching kids grow up - now I have grandchildren - is a great thing which I accept like a big present.
And I’m grateful to -despite crisis, wars, injustice, poverty, stupidity and greed- our planet is a wonderful place, let’s embrace life!
Teach, Learn, Share
I admire people who do not follow the masses but live in accordance to their belief and standards. Even if we are very different, we can listen to each other, share and learn from each other. The best about couchsurfing is that it broadens your horizon, if you let this happen!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I let my guests come to me and tell me about themselves, their ways of traveling through life. Perhaps we will take an evening stroll or look at the town of Flensburg, perhaps a couple or good friends would rather do it by themselves. Sometimes we cooked together, went to the beach, saw an exhibition or listened to a concert.
I expect kindness and openness and an understanding for the fact that Couchsurfing is not about taking hospitality for granted and leave. It’s about giving and taking!
