My name's Florian and I'm from Basel, Switzerland. I'm a friendly and calm contemporary who likes to travel and meet new people. I'm currently working as a teacher while also terminating my teaching diploma. Apart from that, I like museums, hiking, and reading.

I'm a good conversationalist and I feel secure and open to discuss a big variety of different topics. And I'm always eager to learn something new in areas where I have no prior knowledge. Share your wisdom with me! The deeper the conversation, the better it is. :-)

I'm a very open and kind-hearted dude. Whoever you are, wherever you're from and whatever you've done in your life, I won't judge you. It's a natural part of the human experience to feel a bit afraid in front of strangers, but I can guarantee you: I'm like that one brother/ cousin/ friend to whom you can tell anything. But very important note: it's more than OK to not share all your secrets. Privacy is an essential right.

I'm not queer myself, but LGBTQIA+ people are always safe and welcome at my place. The same goes for women - CS is not a dating platform! People from every nationality of our fascinating world are welcome, too, even for the case that you should be an extraterrestrial being. ;)

It would be a pleasure to host you or to be hosted by you, respectively. Travelling is not only about seeing iconic spots, trying the local food and engaging in some activities, but primarily it's about the smaller and bigger interactions you have with the people that have transformed and are constantly transforming a certain location. Every CS guest or host is a door to a new and fascinating culture.

The best way to learn a new country is to meet with locals and to adapt to their customs. This way we can learn that we humans are connected to each other, namely through the strongest, yet most fragile chain called "life". The global community of Couchsurfing does represent this spirit perfectly. We're all equal, yet different. And in all our differences you see many similarities.

Sometimes I make the observation that the most honest and profound conversations are those with "strangers" whose paths you cross only for a short time. And to get a bit philosophical: CS encounters do reflect a lot the circle of life: You get to know someone new, gain trust in each other, build a friendship, and then you need to say goodbye to them.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I once did a bicycle tour in the Sultanate of Oman. It was a nice experience for sure.
I once did a tandem skydive in Catalonia. This was an atomic cocktail of different hormones, a very memorable moment for sure.

I'm a genuine guy who feels very fine with both exploring a city on its own but also discovering it with other folks.

I have no problems at all to adapt to any house rules. I'm a clean and calm person who likes to help in housework such as preparing a meal or cleaning the dishes.

I have a broad knowledge of which I like to share a slice with you, but I'm also a good listener who is genuinely interested in all your life stories.

I'm open and spontaneous to do some shared activities together (indoor or outdoor).
