About Me

CURRENT MISSION
I am trying to take planes only once a year because of the pollution from planes.
I am planning a trip to Scotland.

ABOUT ME

I am a fun person with many interests. I like to try new things: variety is the spice of life! I am artistic and volunteer my time a lot.

PHILOSOPHY

The older I get, the less I know for certain, and that's important knowledge. I try not to give advice. I try to put myself in others' shoes. Life is hard and people are doing their best, in most cases.
I am a fan of the Mexican artist and legend Frida Kahlo but my name is Carla. 😏

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was active on Hospitality Club for many years (In 2008, HC had more than 400,000 members from 200 countries), and SERVAS (a non-profit organization providing a hospitality exchange service, founded in 1949), back in the pre-computer days!
I would be honored to accommodate a refugee or a woman seeking reproductive freedom!

Music, Movies, and Books

Half a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi is a great book about the short-lived country of Biafra.
Poisonous Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
James by Percival Everett

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled for a year by myself in South America. Great experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

Almost anyone has something valuable to teach...and plenty to learn. If someone cannot listen to another, that path is blocked and I feel frustrated.
To people wanting to visit this country, please read about a German, Lucas Sielaff, and his American fiancé, and their traumatic experience being detained, even with a valid visa. This is happening not only to Germans but also to tourists from the U.K., France, Canada and the Netherlands. "Don't come here, it's not safe," his fiancé said. Sielaff is back in Germany after 2 weeks in U.S. detention (jail).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Tea and conversation, cooking, neck massage, knowledge of Seattle

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, France, Iceland, Ireland, Mexico, Peru

Countries I’ve Lived In
