About Me

Computer Science Student, Cinephile, Writer, Hobbiest Painter, Art Lover, Dota2 Player, reading philosophy books and learning musical instruments (help!).

At school, I study IT. At work, I am a slave refactoring python codes and pretend to love working.

My room are full with half-read books, currently (Jan 2024), I am on Murakami's and Kafka's and Garcia Marque's books. As a hobby, I read philosophy, but it feels like a full time job now, because it takes me forever to make out the sense of Tractatus by Wittgenstein. When it gets to hard, I come to more accessible wisdom from Simon Blackburn or De Botton. I do not know much and everyday I feel like I am changing myself to whoever i am reading, however I am inclined to categorize my current believes into atheism, social liberalism, a tad of relativism (changing), Camus's existentialism, racism (JK).

In 2024, I try to watch more films. My last year logs on Letterboxd is about 54, I try to make it around 150 (this year - 3 films a week). My ultimate goal is to become wise enough to write beautiful analysis, so to have a voice, and so to appreciate. Maybe also travel a bit more, get here and there between the schedules if there are cheap flights.

I am taking Jazz Improvisation class every week, and my tutor is too chill, should I complain? Because I am too lazy and not making progress, he should push me a bit.

Short Biography: Growing up in the south Vietnam, Thang then moved to Germany since 2018 to pursue higher education. Currently he is doing his master at Uni Hamburg.

Older text (archived):
I like cinema, and enjoy watching good melodramatic films. Abbas Kiarostami, Wes Anderson and Aldomovar are some directors i admire. But most of all, Persian cinema in general gives me the best poetic experiences, when you have some scenes of nothingness, maybe some sounds of the branches cracking or the wind breezing, but made you feel pensive. As to give a freedom to choose what to pay attention to in film.

I admire people who can articulate their thoughts and feelings.

Footnote for future encounter: ignorance is not a bliss; it is an ancient chronic sickness, that demands constant attention, in us, and a curse, which must be tolerated, in others. And open-minded community like couch surfing are comforting in this respect and hence much appreciated personally. I have yet experienced ever in CS such social desease like racism, homophobia, or any arbitrary discrimination; but if there could be any symptoms thereof, I am open to discuss ;).
